Has a hole too close to the opening so you will have to make this work...

This might be a crazy question but what exactly goes in the hole? Something for temp? I bought my first GN a few months ago and the filter that was on there (Kenne Bell) had the same hole but nothing hooked up to it and i didn't find any random wires laying around.
