I'm looking to buy a 99 bonneville with a spun bearing, will the crank out of an old turbo 3.8 fit or is there one you recommend? I'm looking to find a good crankshaft that would deal with abuse. I'm looking to keep the car stock as it will be my commuter but I said the same thing when I bought my GN.

old crank wont work

stock crank is good for more than you can put down to the front wheels

buy a whole engine - they are cheap , cheaper than gaskets ,fasteners , machine work etc...if you add up the costs of the teardown and more reliable especially if your going to mod it. if this is an sc car you can sell the "top swap" ( heads and above components)for close to what you will pay for a whole engine

stock short blocks are put together very well thats why the sII 3800 is on wards top 10 engines of all time list very tight quality control on assembly - stock rotating assembly has been 8.6 @159 like kshef said they will take a lot

Yeah it's supercharged, I'll check the junkyards then, or if anyone on here knows of a good one near Omaha.
