85 block hp limit

whats the hp limit of the 84-85 blocks?
do they have the makings to hold up under high hp applications,or is the 109 block the way to go?
I guess what i'm saying is can it handle 500-600 hp if well prepared,with main studs and what not??

I havent seen any proof that they are any weaker.

yes they look weaker thru the lifter valley but who has really broke a lifter valley on a 3.8??

I agree. I have both an 85 block and a 109 sitting next to one another in the basement. Big time difference in the lifter valley. But this shouldn't be any concern.

But just to be sure I'm building the 87 block. I got it out the junkyard for $50 bucks. They are cheap and easy to find, so for piece of mind I'd go with the 109.
