84-85 intercooler

Are you talking a Kit? I don't think its sold anymore, Best bet is to just reclock your turbo, run IC pipes to intercooler, then run it back to your intake Inlet(simply terms) Some have done this, sure those who have will post pics.

Or you could also get yourself ALKY/meth injection Kit.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I'm interested in seeing some pics of this!!

Spearco used to sell one but don't think it worked too well. Just start running E85 and you won't need an intercooler! Jamie ran 10.55 et at Nationals several weeks ago in a trick "hot Air" car burning E85! Of course she and her husband (Karl) have been working on her car for years!

That was only 2 weeks ago, I know hard to believe, but if you are going intercooled you may just want to buy an intercooled set up and save a lot of headache. I know there are a couple on here you have done something along those lines, but you can get a really nice time out of a hot air with a lot of tuning and patients, not to mention E85 if available does really help cool the charge for these cars.

thanks everyone. how hard is it to relocate turbo?

Here’s a little taste of what you’re going to need to do to put the turbo out in the 86/87 stock location.

1) Get rid of the mechanical fan.
2) Remove the A/C compressor, alternator and the bracket holding.
3) Replace the headers, crossover and downpipe with 86/87 setup.
4) Drill a hole in the front of your block for the oil drain.
5) Run an oil feed line to the turbo.

You should now be able to mount the turbo in the 86/87 location, but now you have to deal with everything you removed as well as replacing the intake, throttle body, vacuum hoses, pulleys, MAF….

In other words, it’s not going to be easy but it’s doable

Just use a stock 86/87 intake and proceed as illustrated above
in the pictures w/piping & IC. Slap on a bigger turbo & injectors and
go for it. Cheap & effective, IMHO. It worked great for me.
I used a modified Accufab upper plenum. Neat and easy,
no modification to the car except the alternator bracket
gets cut down to clear the up pipe from the IC.
Biggest expense is the intake and upper plenum.
Total deal cost me less than $400 probably, after the
electric fan and 87 ECM was done.

here is a spearco kit with a idea to remove the TB off the turbo:p
