33 spline axles in fire

My dad had a set of brand new axles and a spool in the fire. He cleaned them up and they pretty much LOOK like brand new, but my question is, did the heat from the fire weaken them on a molecular level or something like that? I just dont want him to take a chance and have them break. Thanks in advance

They have lost all heat treating and are junk. The only hope of salvage would be for Moser (or whoever) to retreat them and hope they stay straight (they won't).

Heat treating is a time and cooling rate proposition. They probably cooled slowly which has effectively tempered them. Sorry for more bad news.

BTW, I hope you guys can get back on your feet quickly.

Thanks Roger, I figured that they'd probably be altered in some way. But knowing my dad, he'll try to use them regardless of what people say I guess he's just stubborn like that.

BTW, is the spool no good either??
