Hey guys, looking for some boat guys here..(I am pretty new to the marine world)
on a 1984 Mercury 115hp outboard, the stock stator is 9amp...I had a 16amp stator installed when the motor was rebuilt. I am now being told from different people that I can't use that stator w/ this motor??
The part number is the same as the Mercury number, except a -16 at the end, meaning 16 amp...
the stator is supposed to have an internal voltage regulator, as the motor does not, just a rectifier.
I wanted a higher output stator because I added a second battery through a perko switch, and have a good size stereo sytem installed.
Trying to put it in the water this weekend, but I dont wanna blow out the CDI boxes, or any other part of the thunderbolt ignition. Any info, would be great!
