    Grundy

I don't know who your talking to at Grundy but they give quotes over the phone in most cases. If you have a shakey driving record well that is another thing. I had my quote over the phone in about 2 mins. Had the paper worked faxed to me in the next 30 mins. Sent it overnight to them. I had...

FINALLY dropped the GN off to get painted!

Ian, Peerless does do nice work. But 3,000 is kinda on the cheap side. what paint are the saying they are going to use? Don't cut up that sweet car to install those GNX side vents its going to kill it's value. Neal

    Nicked lifter...is this bad?

what unwanted problems? the rollmaster is the best you can buy period. If your using an aftermarket cam with good valve springs I would not want a stock replacement unit for various reasons. first they are not strong enough and will stretch under the pressure of the high performance valve...

oh and buy a nice timing set since your doing it right. get a rollmaster and be done with it. dont use the tensioner when you install it.

    Nicked lifter...is this bad?

If your doing the cam get the 212/212 comp. the 206/206 is tiny and the 212/212 is still very smaill. the 212 /212 is so sweet. my car idles like a stocker and pulls hard from off idle to 6000. Neal

    Melbourne Florida /surrounding areas

yep south beach is not a place I like. How are you paying for a 400,000 house on 60K??? My home is about 300,00 here in Pompano. Pay is better here in Broward as there are more people here but I doubt you could get 25 per hour here or Dade county where your dad is. I wish there were good jobs...

    Melbourne Florida /surrounding areas

25.00 per hour for most trades is unheard of here. Won't have much heating work, well more in that part of Florida but not much. A/C is always on here so that is good for you. Just to give you an example/ that part of the state cost of living is much less than south florida ( IE less wages)...

Broke timing chain - How screwed am I?

If you line up the dots you will be set. If the crank gear is at 12 its where you want it. Neal

Broke timing chain - How screwed am I?

seen many break from mechanical interference. It is so rare to find undersize chain sets ( most are special order). from the way he installed the set it is very clear what happened. Neal

Broke timing chain - How screwed am I?

Just follow the stuff on gnttype.org and you will be fine. stick to one persons info and you will be fine. too many cooks ruin the soup. and rookie info will kill you everytime.

Broke timing chain - How screwed am I?

Don't give up. I have been there before. The only real way to know how many you hurt is to get the heads off and check them all. You could properly install a new timing set and do compression tests to try and see which cylinders have trouble. If you want some technical advice now that we know...

Broke timing chain - How screwed am I?

Believe me. It was not installed properly and either is the cam in your LS-1. VERY INACCURATE way to isntall a timing set. You have a loose chain and that right there gives a few degrees of offset, then you force it on more degrees. It was OFF ENOUGH AND THE VALVES TOOK A VERY HARD HIT!!!!. I...

Broke timing chain - How screwed am I?

BINGO!! WE HAVE A WINNER!! You did not install the gears in the same position even if you think you did. That is why it ws so tight and the bolts were so hard to get in. You need to line up the dots. PERIOD!!!! There is no way to install the set with out knowing EXCATLY where the crank...
