    1987 Buick GN for Sale

I am the 3rd owner of this Grand National since my purchase back in 1998. The car spent most of its life in Texas until I moved to Oregon in 2002. I have spent countless hours, (and dollars) working on this car to restore it to a reliable, performance muscle car. The Grand National has been a...

    Fuel Pump Not Working...

I just use the hood light 12 volt plug and stick it directly into the grey wire and it fires the fuel pump right up. Fuses first, then check for power at the relay for hot wire and power at the pump. Those hot wire kits have an inline fuse you may have blown also. If all else fails, start...

    too much oil pressure

I know the yellow one is the stock GN spring color and it is rated at 60 lbs...hence the 60 psi. Not sure about the lower force springs since the 60 lb spring doesn't do much to the oil pressure when it is color and extra thick...I think waiting for the car to warm up with the best option...

    dies at idle,voltage drops...

sounds like you drained the battery too much when the alternator originally went out, then barely had enough juice to start it up after the replacement. If you rolled both windows up and have a stumbling idle, it can put a large load on the battery. As a result, your battery was probably too...

    too much oil pressure

Careful with the adjustable regulator, I had one also and ended up taking it off. The spring rate is what matters on the spring and it will determine the deflection vs load curve for the bypass. If you are running a high volume pump, I have never heard anything good about those either....I...

    too much oil pressure

Did you send your turbo back to PTE to have it rebuilt? I thought I was failing from the exact same oil pressures you are talking about...kept blowing the turbo seals, but PTE diagnosed the turbo 2 times after the failure and said it was comtanimation in the ring bearings. I am installing the...

    Misc 86/87 GN Parts F/S

Do you have the stock OEM oil filter adapter bolt for a GN with an oil cooler? I need to get one to replace my current "Biggie" oil filter adapter? I think it would have to be from an 86 or 87 car...

    oil fitler adapter

I do still have the stock oil cooler installed. I am not sure why the oil cooler is on the car, but I would guess it is to cool down the oil so it does not cook itself in the turbo??

    oil fitler adapter

I just got the Precision Turbo oil filter relocation kit and it is a very nice assembly for the money. I can't believe I never install this sooner as it keeps the turbo feed with fresh oil directly from the filter assembly. Anyways, I think I lost my original oil filter adapter bolt because I...

    pass Oregon Emission today

The 180 thermostat sounds like a good idea, I think I will switch to 180 for the winter also.

    Stronger at 16psi than 23psi...WTF?

I don't see any comments about fuel pump upgrades to your car. I assume you are using a hot wired stocker or any upgraded pump? I have the same issues and noticed that my fuel pressure drops because it can support the volume required at the higher RPM's with extra boost. I need to upgrade...

    pass Oregon Emission today

Failed first time - oil seal in turbo center section leaking HC 683 ppm Failed second time - rebuilt turbo, but still failed with 383 ppm. car at 160°. Passed third time - 1 bottle of heet (yellow bottle), about 6 gallons 92 octane, and I pulled the power on the radiator fan until the engine...

    Found the water leak

Anyone know if that thin sheetmetal windsheild wiper rest needs to be sealed down to the front windsheild with some RTV or anything? Mine was not but I thought I saw somewhere where sometimes it is?

    Found the water leak

The best stuff for filling in leak cracks is "Permatex Black Rubber Sealant". It is very runny when it first comes out of the tube, but it immediately starts to thicken after applied. Definitely the best leak sealer. Now that my leak is fixed, I will be putting in new carpet from Kirban...

    Found the water leak

I first noticed it when my windows were unusually foggy in the morning, then I found the wet passenger floormat. After reading a bunch of posts, I decided to re-seal the heater core and replace it while I had things apart. After the heater core replacement, I got out the hose again and sprayed...

    Recurring Turbo Seal Problem

I think I have the same problem. Too much oil pressure blows out the seals. My cold start up pressure is above 100 psi also. After I had all the gasket leaks and everything sealed up great after the last rebuild...I created my own leak by too much oil pressure. I shimmed my oil pump to...

    pulled intake for lifter tick

I called comp back yesterday and complained again. I still don't feel good about the resolution so I will be writting them a letter. I got a new set of lifters for about 320 and free shipping, this seemed to be the most they would budge on getting me any discount. I wish I had the name of the...

    pulled intake for lifter tick

I called comp cams today about the lifter situation and I am kind of pissed about their response. I was running around .070" to 0.080" preload on the lifters because that is what one of there phone techicans recommended to me about six months ago when I specifically inquired about the proper...
