    What's this knock???

I would check the endplay in the crank to make sure its not serious. Pry the crank forward and back. If you can see it move thrust bearing may be worn. Mine would set off the knock detector but ran 13.1.

    is AC19930 the right converter??

Is this the right converter or is this the source of my thrust failure?? Please help me figure this out so I don't take out another short block. Thanks all.........

    what causes thrust bearing failure??

Thanks for the link! It sounds like I have to put it all back together to check the line pressure. If the front pump needs work then I have to take it all out again. What can I check now that its apart so I only have to do this once? Thanks..........

    what causes thrust bearing failure??

Does a converter balloon and then shrink back? Or does it stay ballooned? I was assuming it would stay enlarged and I could see or measure it. Mine looks fine. Any other way to verify?? Thanks all............

    what causes thrust bearing failure??

My thrust bearing failed after 3500mi on rebuild! I assume the transmission or converter is probably to blame. The motor is out of the car. How can I figure out what the problem is? I can't see anything obvious on the flyweel or converter. The converter is an AC 9" nl. There was at least 3/16...

very loud noise when in park????

My guess is that the shift linkage on the firewall is hitting the exaust manifold or something when in park. Shift it into to gear and it moves out of the way. check it out...........

Anyone popped a head gasket with the power plate?

Before I put the PP on I measured the temperature of each cylinder on the exhaust manifold with a portable pyrometer. At idle, there was more than 100deg difference between the cylinders. 5 was the hottest. After the PP there was only a 10 deg difference. I guess exhaust temperature at idle may...

How smooth an idle with CC206/206

I put this cam in my new rebuild and it seems a little loapy. I was hoping for a smoother idle. How smooth are some of you idling? I suppose I could still have another problem. Just don't want to chase it too far if its normal. Thanks all...............

can't set the boost the way I like

I would like to set the boost so it spools up fast but doesn't over boost. I've tryed without the MMbst command and with and just can't get it quite right. With the boost command I can set it so it spools good but the minimum setting is like 18psi. Knock city on pump gas! If I loosen the rod...

    Postons

As far as I know they don't deal online. Kind of an old fasion operation. Try this number and have them send you a catalog. 1 (800) 635 9781 I've got some stuff from them in the past with no problems. In this fast paced world their a little slow maybe. HTH............

    Valve train noise after rebuild

I'm going to have a few more people listen to it this weekend to see what they think. It's kind of hard to diagnose without hearing it in person. Too bad I can't post a tape of it somehow. I'm also going to change the oil this weekend to see if all the break-in metal is gone. The last change at...

    Valve train noise after rebuild

I've checked the cam sensor with the screwdriver to ear test, I also had the valve covers off and re-sized my adj. push rods. Preload is 035/040. I understand that .060 is the max, true? It sounds like its coming from the middle of the motor but who knows. If it helps, you can really hear it...

    Valve train noise after rebuild

So you think it might be my double roller? Is that something that slaps around at certain RPM or is the cam moving? It kind of sounds like a lifter. Thanks, the more suggestions the better. I will take it apart if I have to. It just looks so good in there right now I hate to start ripping it...

    Valve train noise after rebuild

I've got what I think is a little extra noise from the valve train. I'm using a CompCam 206/206 with GM lifters. The preload is between .035/.040. It sounds like a lifter but it only makes noise at between 2300 and 2500rpm. Its not too loud but loud enough to make me wonder. It made this noise...
