    turboing a supercharger??

L67 is the code for the supercharged series II 3800. The code for the 86-87 Turbo 3.8L is LC2. These engines share the same bore and stroke, but absolutely no parts interchange. Both cranks may have rolled fillets, but they are NOT interchangeable. The series II has cross-bolted mains which...

    turboing a supercharger??

I'd much rather have a turbo on my L67. If I were to do it, I'd modify the stock headers to make then work. The front one seems fine, the rear would have to change alot or even be replaced completely. I'd use the L67 lower intake, with the supercharger removed and a custom plenum made up to...

    3800 Series II Supercharged

Yeah, I think the security system, radio, heads up and all is connected to the PCM. It would definately have to limit itself to control of the fuel and spark only. No wonder no one has these things running fast yet. :)

    3800 Series II Supercharged

Hmm, well, I guess someone's gotta be the first one to do it. Might as well be me. :)

    3800 Series II Supercharged

Is anyone using a FAST system on one of these yet? If so, is it acting as a fuel and spark system only whilst maintaining all of the rest of the OEM PCM's controls? TIA, -Mike

    Whats this Stage I worth?

It cost me about $7500 to build one a shortblock like that. What you can actually get for it is another story though.

Should you paint the inside of a pan?

When I bought a new 20 bolt oil pan from GM, the entire pan was painted black, including the inside. Perhaps GM uses epoxy or urethane paint?

    Main cap walk @ 2 & 3

I wonder if adding a girdle and then pinning the caps to the girdle would help?

    Champion Heads

I've been following the GN1 cracking threads alot as I have first gen 14-bolt heads. I haven't used them yet though so I can't relate any personal experiences. From everything I have read, it seems the problem is with the outer 3 bolts on the 14-bolt heads. Perhaps torquing these even less...

    Engine assembly questions

Thanks. Those heads aren't mine, but they are for sale. I don't if the guy selling them has come up with a price yet. He was asking me what I thought they were worth, but I really have no idea. -Mike

    Engine assembly questions

What's the best way to mockup the heads on the block without destroying new head gaskets? I have GN1 "cracker" heads with 1007 locwire gaskets. I want to install the heads at the same height they will be at in the final assembly so I can place the intake on the engine and measure it for proper...

    Caution, cam washer bent!!

I've seen two kinds of dist drive gears. One kind that is flush where the washer goes and another kind that has a recess cut for the washer to sit in. I know someone with a few NOS dist. drive gears if anyone is looking for one. -Mike

    What's it worth?

A local guy bought out the remains of Smokey Unick's Buick race parts. These parts are mostly very old, late 70's to early 80's. There's a set of aluminum heads which look just like stockers, definately not stage heads. They have "EXP A" on them which I believe means experimental. He...

Just bought a new S1 block today

If I did stuff like that I'd be looking for a new family... I have some off-center rods, Carillo, 6.250" just resized and rebushed. You can have them for $8000 and I'll throw in a freshly built Stage-1 3.8 long block with GN-1 heads for free. :D

    Complete aluminum Indy Stage 2

Re: Re: Musclemotors I don't know...$350 for six new carillo rods doesn't seem like a bad price to me.

request for photo of cam retainer

I'm not going to rent the jig for installing the cam retainer plate. I can get the piece installed just fine...but...I am not 100% certain what the preferred orientation of the piece is. It's not marked and the instruction sheet doesn't mention anything. My concern is if I do it wrong, I...

    lt1 starter

I did some google searching and found that the LT4 starter is a popular bolt-in upgrade for Impala SS owners. The orignal Impala starters are the same as the LT1 starter which fits the Buick, so I'm taking the chance and ordered the starter and bolts from GM Parts Direct. Warning: GM Parts...
