Rebuilt trans; No 3 or 4 shift

Rebuilt and sat on a shelf for several years, so the builder is long gone. Finally installed it, and 1 and R worked just fine. It took a little bit of driving before the 1-2 started working but the shift feels good. It freewheels in 1 & 2 when decelerating in D, but engine brakes when in...

Stock TH400 no cooler line flow

30-year old TH400 with old B&M shift kit and 12" stock GM VP converter that worked fine when pulled out. Pulled the trans 2-years ago and long story short it went back in without so much as the pan coming off. Fired it up, ran it in and out of the shop and down the street a few times shifts good...

    trans-brake in park and reverse

I just had the front pump apart for a new bushing. Had the regulator apart and can't see where I assembled anything wrong, but...something stuck? When in Park and Reverse it loads the engine like it is in gear but there is no driveshaft movement. Revving it drags the engine down like there is...

Front pump removal & Converter ID

The torque converter snout is cracked and took out the front pump bushing. Anything else I should be looking for as a result of this breakage? Other than the front pump bolts, is there anything holding the front pump in place? (I'm used to a TH400, never had a 200 apart before) It seems as I...

    crank trigger for FAST

I'm afraid I screwed up. I bought a NIB Fel-Pro 30-223310 for what I thought was a good deal and am not sure it is for my needs. SEFI with analog crank sensor. I envisioned modifying my analog distributor for the crank signal, but can't find a good reliable crank trigger for a street-car...

    sucking air, normal, or ?

Got my trans back in after smoking it after about 30 miles the first time. Bruce told me that it looked just like it was run low on fluid when he got it apart. Now I KNOW that it wasn't run below the full line on the dipstick, so we are at a loss of what caused it, though it's kinda a moot point...

    Hmmmmmmm......

Does this sound contrary to conventional wisdom? http://buickgsca.com/ubb/Forum14/HTML/000059.html Excepting durability of course.
