Took the car out the other day and its shifting really weird. Not driving hard the car will rev up and then its like it shifts too early and bogs the engine into low rpms. It also has been shifting real hard into O/D too. Any ideas what would cause this to happen?

I have annoying leak from my oil pan...can I get enough clearance to change the gasket with the engine in, or should I just pull the engine and be done with it. Also my parts supplier says that there's a difference between the 84 and 85 oil pan gaskets? Thanks
