Cost to tune Gen 7 or FAST?

Just to be clear: I don't regret a penny of this! The cost of the initial tune was probably the most important $400 I spent on the whole project. I'm sure EFI tuning is completely intuitive for some folks, but if you are brand new to the software and not entirely sure what you are doing, it's a...

Cost to tune Gen 7 or FAST?

A different answer from the West Coast: I worked with a local tuner/FAST dealer to tune my FAST setup. He charged me a flat fee of $400, which ended up covering an initial 2 hour session (actually more like 3 hours) and several followup sessions totalling another 3 hours. He had the basic tune...

    FAST WB02 tip

Thanks for the tip. Out of curiosity, why WD40? I would think some dielectric grease would be better... Obviously, glad to hear your problem is solved. -Jeff

    C-ComWP update

Thanks, Joe. Yes, C-ComWP 1.02 was the version that was posted; I had the wrong version listed in my previous post. Glad to know this is available in general release; a $25 paid update is perfectly reasonable. (That L key is great for tuning by yourself, keeping in mind the usual caveats...

    C-ComWP update

About 4-8 weeks ago someone posted a brief thread to this forum containing a link to a Windows C-COM update. The new version (1.015, if i recall correctly) contained some bug fixes, an updated help system, and the reappearance of the "L key" hot key VE correction shortcut. I don't think it's a...

    Celica GT4 & fast ?

It's been done, but there's no plug-and-play harness. A few years ago there was another poster on this forum who had a FAST on his 3SGTE-powered MR2 (same engine as your friend's GT4). Might want to do a search on "Toyota", "3SGTE", or "3S-GTE" and see what you get. I have a FAST setup on...

    F.A.S.T. question regarding afterstart idle...

FWIW, I also had this problem, and was finally able to solve it last week. In my case, I had the WBO2 sensor mounted too far back, and it wasn't getting hot enough at idle to function properly. Relocating the sensor further up the downpipe (~10" from the turbine outlet vs. 30"+) fixed this. -Jeff

    C-Com WP

I think that was true for the DOS version, but not the Windows version. When I lost my Windows install disk, I tried that, and I was unable to communicate with the ECU; it remained a demo version. I ended up having to get a fresh copy of the software. -Jeff

FAST fuel parameters and VE table

That makes sense, and makes me realize I had things backwards. If I understated the fuel injector size by 11%, it sounds like I would want to input the correct size and then remove 11% across the entire VE table. Is that right? -Jeff

    F.A.S.T.

This was the exact conversation I had with my tuner on Thursday. I'll leave his name out of this, but he's been doing EFI tuning for almost 30 years, and it was his opinion that there might not be 150 people in the whole country with Craig's skill set, and obviously far fewer with his particular...

FAST fuel parameters and VE table

Thanks, Bruce. I don't think I'm out of fuel, but I'll verify that I have adequate pressure and fuel at WOT. By the way, what's "F/M"? I'm wracking my brain but not coming up with a definition. Also, these are screenshots of the a/f, VE, and spark tables. These are the current tables...

FAST fuel parameters and VE table

Thanks for the info. I've already duplicated the tune we did yesterday and made changes to the duplicate VE table, increasing all the values by 11%. I'll do some driving and datalogging and see how it runs. It seems like this error would only be a problem if I were to change injectors. If...

FAST fuel parameters and VE table

Here's an odd question: Which tables are affected by the injector size parameter? I assume the VE table uses this parameter, but do other tables use it as well? Here's why I ask: I got my FAST system retuned today by a local tuner, and it runs great -- very smooth, no pinging, etc. He did a...

    Where do I start tuning??

I'm sure you've looked at all the obvious stuff, but for the record, you did enter the proper values for injector size, engine displacement, and the other fuel parameters, right? Do you want to post your configuration files so that others can look at them, or would that violate the spirit or...

    FAST wideband o2 question

Same question, different vehicle with lower EGTs I'm currently redoing my DP and had planned on moving my WBO2 sensor, so I am following this with much interest. Currently, my WBO2 is probably 20"-22" from the turbo. I was planning on moving it closer to the turbo, as this seemed too far...

    WBO2 sensor location

I'm going to be redoing my downpipe in 3" (it's currently 2.5") and making a few other changes, and as a result I will need to relocate my F.A.S.T. WBO2 sensor. Will it shorten the sensor's life to move it within a few inches of the turbine outlet? One of my concerns is that between the...

    EGT questions

Thanks! Thanks a lot for sharing your results. It's helpful to know what sort of temps others are seeing. I plan on moving my probe to a few inches after the cylinder head, so hopefully my data will be more useful. Thanks, Jeff

    C-ComWP update

I had a similar situation when my MAP sensor failed. I would only get movement on the horizontal (RPM) axis, not the vertical. Any possibility it could be a wiring problem, or a failing MAP sensor? Just a thought... Jeff

    EGT questions

I've been trying to find some decent info on acceptable EGT temps and probe placement, and I can't seem to get a straight answer. Maybe someone here can help. First, I should say that I don't have a Buick. What I do have is a F.A.S.T.-controlled, turbo Toyota 4x4. It's a street driven, 4 cyl...

c-com vs c- com windows version

You can use one or the other, or one after the other, you just can't use both at the same time. The .gct files are compatible with both versions. FWIW, I have both version installed on my laptop. Jeff
