“spare the lines” should read “swap the lines”…. they each only fit in their respective ports. Swapping is not an option unless I redo the ends with proper fittings to move them, or buy/make adapter fittings.

For the brake lights, it looks like the whole assembly just turns to make the required adjustment. I got the bit white plug off the back just fine but I can’t seem to get the the little black one out.
