I believe the clip you are speaking goes on the transmission bolt directly across from the bolt that holds transmission dip stick , or the highest transmission bolt on the drivers side

The same exact thing happened to me , I used a after market high volume front cover and gm gasket , i used a chain saw file and filed the front cover , tinging noise is gone , no more problem

Just put my heads on, used onesteel shim gasket, preload on lifters is .060 to .070, whats my options? postons adjustable, custom make some, can you shim the rocker arms that much (ford shims) I want to get down to the ,030 to .035 range thanks
