I'm finally getting around to rebuilding our 86 GN which has basically sat for 4 or 5 years. First my disclaimer: I am not a GN expert, most of my experience is with Fords, so ... sorry ;) Also, this is a budget build ... although I've found I'm not sure that's very possible with a GN...

I'm getting ready for an all new set of gauges to replace the old (mostly non- functioning) dash on the 86 GN. I'm going with VDO cockpit and was wondering which one I'll need - I don't know the specs for ohms empty and ohms full? Thanks for your help!

First off, what exactly is the limit of the stock fuel pump? I couldn't find anything with a search, just that they don't last too long. Second, I cashed in on my powermaster core to kirban's and am thinking I should use it for either getting an adj. fpr or a new pump, which would you do...

Just thought I'd update progress. I've had a little bit of time to work on the GN... put on a fuel pressure gauge and it was low 30s, added a hotwire harness and now it's up to 38, so that's good. Haven't had a chance to wot yet, but after disconnecting the battery the chip is back to 128 @...

Heh. Yeah, I don't have a translator, I have the MAF pictured in my first post so I added it with the chip. Thanks for your help so far!

I know I have to check fuel pressure, which I'll do once I get started on it - I just need to find out what I'll need to adapt it to the 1/8npt male gauge I have (if anything.) I replaced the fuel filter and it wasn't the gas, it's been doing it consistantly. I also put in new vac lines and...

Thanks a lot for all the info guys. I'll be keeping the car forever so it sounds like a good way to go. Here's a question though ... if I end up getting something for tuning like maybe an autoprom etc. - will this make the translator obsolete as I'd be able to take control of its calibration?
