Dr.Frankenstein-What kind of turbo would I want to look for that would be more efficient and work for me? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I don't know a lot about turbos, beyond the basic idea of what they do and how they work. I'm just trying to get the stuff together to try this out...
Thanks for the information. Maybe I'll bolt it up and see what it does (I guess that's the only rela way to know what it'll do). The only problem is if I like it, then I'll have to go changing things to improve it. :-)
Also, I wanted to thank you guys for your comments so far. I know it's a strange question and certainly welcome any input that can be/ has been provided.
I do have an early style draw thru setup and I know I wouldn't be able to maximize the performance without building around the turbo. I'm wondering though- What would it do if I were to just bolt up the turbo without trying to maximize the performance? Would I lose my low end, gain some top...
I've been toying around with the idea of turboing my engine (I have a full setup that I could bolt on and get working) but am a bit confused by contradicting information I hear and am hoping for some clarification. I like the way my buggy drives right now on the low end (I can lug it around a...
I finally got an oil pressure gauge in my buggy and found the proper sending unit for it just before our trip to the dunes this past weekend and am wondering what it should be at. In the morning at cold start it was around 70 psi, after warming up it was around 40 at idle and 60-70 at 3500-4500...
I've been looking at the efi units that'll bolt on in place of the carburetor because I think that'd help smooth out how it runs (not really more power but should make it drive better). Other than that I don't know what else can be done without sending it to a shop to have it built, or at least...
I wasn't able to get the turbo motor from the guy so I just have the na one in the buggy and it runs well the way it is (though I wouldn't mind a few more horses if I could get them and keep it reliable). I worry about turboing it because I don't know what compression the pistons are or what cam...
No. I keep thinking about it but it goes well the way it is. I've kept the turbo setup but hesitate to bolt it up because I don't want to lose my bottom end or have to redo the cam and stuff. I might bolt it ip one of these days though just to see what it does.
I got it back together and turned it over manually a few times to make sure it's not a problem with the valves and everything seems to be as it should be. The next step is to put fresh oil in and start it up, then cross my fingers that there really isn't anything else wrong on the inside.
I was able to get the bent push rod out and everything else appears to be ok (sigh of relief), so the only things I'm replacing for now are the rocker arm assembly and 2 pushrod. The lifter appears to have come out of place after the rocker arm came off so I'm going to go to the store and buy a...
I hadn't thought about other problems inside the engine. I figured it was just the plastic "button" wore out, I hope there's nothing else but guess I'd better plan on looking into the cam and such too.
I'll look up the thread about porting and see what I can figure out. Thanks
