So I haven't been active for a few years. Priorities took over in life, but fortunately I never had to sell my GN. I was just wondering as I was going back through all my bookmarks to relearn everything, I noticed there is virtually no activity going on in the forums in gnttype.. door a couple years..what happened, or is it taboo to talk about?

Most people move on after a while. No taboo but things have changed a lot over the years.

I think gnttype.org has been dormant for quite awhile... I still refer to the info over there from time to time though.

Just noticed my typo, not door, but *for a couple..
There is a lot of great info I got from there, and I know there's just as much here. Just ashamed to see it go dormant. Not a good sign for our hobby, I think.

A rapidly shrinking marketplace and this FaceBook mentality world have doomed many-a-great websites.......... I hope Shane is never forced to do the same with TB.com.......

Scott is still keeping gnttype.org alive for know , thank god for just the knowledge and info on there , talked with him about it the other day

That's awesome to hear! I'm glad he's going to keep it up. I'm sure there are countless amounts of people that rely on gnttype for info.
I couldn't agree more with the Facebook mentality. I gave up all that style social media several years ago... I feel kinda reborn lol.
I have a news feed on my phone, and I'll read articles of interest on it. I'll scroll to the comments on the bottom, and get really pissed off with the idiots out there, and it ..... Almost makes me want to rejoin that crap just to tell them how stupid they really are. But I keep my big boy pants on and keep my comments to myself.

Actually, I need to add. Facebook, in theory would have been a great way to keep in touch with family and old friends. However, with text messaging, if they can't keep in touch that way, or an actual, occasional, phone call, they aren't a friend or good family. Oddly I now have 2 friends, and half a family left lol. So much for people actually caring, they're more interested in posting just the good moments of their days to make others jealous.. rant done

Social media is an intelligence agencies' information gathering dream. They could never generate the amount of info on an individual, as that person knowingly and willingly freely divulges.

Death by selfie is now an actual yearly, national statistic that's tracked and climbing. Morons and celebrities (which I have a hard time telling apart) post their vacation itineraries, then wonder why they got robbed. What the hell is an influencer? How many times can the internet get broken? Can someone teach me how to throw shade or clap back? Because they seem to be important life skills.

The tide pod challenge. The pee on something in Walmart challenge. The snort a condom challenge. All these challenges got me thinking I should create my own challenge.

So, it is here I officially announce my challenge to the world..."The Guzzle a Bottle of Drain-O Challenge"(pretty self explanatory)

And this is why there are labels like this. Sadly the population of idiots is increasing putting the rest of us in danger, because they're being saved from doing stupid things by technology and not dying off. o_O

I was late to the Facebook thing by a few years. I did about 2 years on it and recently deactivated. What a relief. I knew from Day one it was a total distraction to my life. At one point I had about 200 friends but was involved in probably 100's of groups and pages. At the end I got down to nothing but 50-60 friends and about 5-7 Buick Groups and some guitar groups. I realized that it just wasn't enough reason to keep it active. I spend any phone time now on Youtube where I actually learn something with the time. I'm glad this board is still around and hasn't changed. It's obviously a little slower than times in the past but that's because it's not polluted with garbage all that is on FB.

What, you can't iron with a shirt on?

I tried ironing in the nude one time. Accidently ironed over something that landed on the ironing board. Told my wife I had been fishing and caught a cat fish. She asked what kind. I told her, flathead.

RED LS1 YouTube is exactly what I've moved to as well for the same reasons. But sadly I've noticed an influx of "trolls" on there too. I do my darnedest not to get involved, but at times I do. I know they're just fishing for people to respond. But sometimes I just got to defend the original video.

This board was awesome back in early 2000s. Dwindling population I guess.

6 years Fakebook free,do i deserve a chip or something ?.

As someone who left the boards for a decade or more and finally picked up a Buick of my own there are still a ton of great, knowledgeable, helpful and generous people out there but it sure is a lot more quiet.

It is a lot more quiet and if there are any other GN's or turbo Regals near me, I've yet to see them. I have not been to it this year, but near the town of Middlebury Indiana at a restaurant called Das Dutchman Essenhaus, they have a car show every Thursday, I remember seeing a GN there. I just need to stop being lazy and go to find out.

What I did is I looked at the regional threads any anyone who lived near me I DM'd. Made a few contacts/friends that way.
