Direct drum balancing

just a random question I'm pondering. The extra notches in the direct drum are different in every drum I've seen. Are they cut in after the drum is built in an effort to balance it? Some sure seem to have a lot of weight cut out of one side and with the rpm these spin in first I'd assume they want it pretty well balanced. Has anyone tried to check/rebalance them? Is this why some have ring grooves at low miles and others look cherry after a hard life?

Or are they cut out simply to exhaust fluid from the drum/shell and cut wherever the hell they felt like it on that particular day

Laugh it up barker. I was going to say I'll sabotage the next one of yours but your stuff always seems to sabotage itself lol

My former boss has this Dave Barry quote on the pegboard at his trans shop

The truth is, there is nothing you can do about your transmission. Nobody knows how transmissions work, or even where they come from. They just arrive at car factories in unmarked crates, and the workers put them into the cars. Many people believe transmissions are created by beings from other solar systems. There is evidence to support this theory, namely transmission manuals, which contain bizarre diagrams and deranged alien commands...So if something goes wrong with your transmission, your best bet is to just give your car to the poor and claim a tax deduction.

Dave Barry actually owned a car with a 2004r ???????? :p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Welp, that's pretty much it for this thread. Even if someone actually knows (which they don't) they won't dare get sucked into this train wreck lol.

Another job well done (y)

Transmissions are black magic inside. Ask any of those who work on them. It is kind of like electrical stuff. If you let the magic smoke out it wont work any more, and no one knows how to put the magic smoke back in.

5th time and millions of dongs later is the charm. I fear change and need consistancy, hence the constant need to expect 300% out of bing-bong parts. I'd be great at doing a parts budget at a factory.

We can rebuild it. We have the technology, but I don't want to spend a lot of money. So just limp that shit along and use the scrap in back to make it useable again.

Wait a minute here......... I've been told the same thing about this "turbo/intercooler" combo thing..........

Is there some sort of truth to this nonsense???????????????:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

That clip is a perfect reenactment of how I got my current job

If barkers $148 trans rebuild makes it past the 2 year mark behind a 455, does it mean I possess the black magic??

You might, but never admit it. There could be a lynch mob and an attempt to burn you at the stake as a witch or "knower of the black magic". Can't be too careful.

On a side note I ordered a bunch of parts to try a 4l60e for our suburban. Spent more than the $148 but I'm hoping to be able to tow in od.

^^^This is why none of the trans gurus live in Massachusetts lol.

Hope your list includes a bad ass trans cooler.
