So
got out of work early weather was great
started working on the GN
big BIG mess outside, painting parts, taking inventory of what is left to be sold.
next thing it starts raining and shortly after poring
Arrrggg put shit away hurry hurry and hope you didn't leave anything outside getting wet.
I need a damn garage.

Im in the same boat,I feel for you. I just bought one of them metal car ports it helps but no garage.

Easiest solution to all that is to buy/rent a house with a garage. ;)

Build a basic car port...and put sides on it even if they are just "skirts " halfway up, throw some gravel in there and you can get these big rubber garage matts to put on top of that, build a bench at the front of it with storage underneath.

I remember driving by a apartment complex and some guy was working on a 2nd gen Firebird, had what looked like the top part of the engine apart and all of the parts lying in the stalls around him...he was sitting on the rad support legs in engine bay.

Costco has a 10'x20' fully enclosed car canopy with top and all 4 sides for like $220. My friend has a couple of them he stores his cars in and is able to move around with enough room to do work on em. He recommends putting a floor down and covers it with tarps to protect the skin from UV damage. So far he's gotten 5 years out of his first one, with only replacing the tarps around it once.

When the property is 40x100 there's not much room.
I am actively shopping in PA.
Some of them 6 acre $90k lots are very inviting.

A garage being included with the house is a must have for me. I couldn't imagine owning and trying to take care of a turbo regal without one. I have had good luck with them being reliable throughout the last 28 years of owning one. But they do require a certain amount of attention, maintenance and security than just owning an ordinary car and having a garage to park and work on it in helps a lot.

I am looking at two lots one is 6 acres in PA, the other is 21 acres in NC. The biggest problem is finding out what is allowed and what isn't. I am dreaming of two garages one two car and one 4 car. The small one heated and A/C and the other junk pile.

I'm in the same boat. The house I rent now has no garage and there is no where to build one because it's too close to the neighbor's property line. I'm renting a 10x20 storage unit about a mile away which is basically a one car garage. It's tight with extra wheels and parts and there is no power or climate control. Hoping to be house shopping early next year.

I'm in that same boat, too. I've got a 1 car on my house but it is just big enough to park in and that's all. I'm looking at getting a steel building but there are so many companies and so many options to choose from. You can get special package deals that come with the concrete that are pretty reasonable but options can drive the cost up quick. My problem is I can't decide on what size I need. Don't want to pay for space I don't really need but having one not big enough is almost as bad as not having one at all. I don't have a problem with the neighbor's land but I do have some trees that are going to have to go first and that is probably going to cost just about as much as the building itself.

Weenies, you need to repair leaking rotted brake lines and fuel lines on your back in the driveway when it's snowing out.:p;)o_O

Just so you can try to get to work the next morning.... :spam:

If you get that garage put a LIFT in it.

Been there. done that, got the tee shirt................ and yes Virginia, there will be a lift in it. (y)

I have a garage but there so many tools and parts in it there's barely room for the gs and suncoupe and no room to work on anything so most of my work happens outside winter spring summer or fall.

my Dad's garage is 40x22 and you can't fit a bicycle in it.
BTW it's called Pack-rat-ism.

Chainsaws are cheap. Just leave 6 foot of the tree intact so a tractor will have the "leverage" to pull the stump out.

I feel your pain on the no garage issue. I'm a pipefitter working on the road with my truck, trailer, and 2 Turbo Buicks- in a rv park. My next job is probably going to be in Augusta, Ga. at the nuclear plant they're building. This should be my retirement job, as it should go on for another 5 years. If I get it, rather then hanging out in another rv park, I'll be looking for a few acres of property, make a small rv park out of it with a shop with a lift!:D

My problem is I can't decide on what size I need.
Calculate what you "need", then double it! NEVER enough space....
I have a 22 x 26 garage, a 30 x 30 shop, and just added a 14 x 25 onto the shop...All this for 2 Turbo cars, and a pickup truck..STILL cramped.
