87 GN - 63k Miles

Just shy of 63k miles. It is basically stock, with just a few modifications. Obvious ones are: GNX style rims, gauges dash (VDO), and a moonroof. I don't know whether it was dealer or other aftermarket, but appears professionally done, works well and does not leak.

I would call it a very nice driver that gets a lot of attention at shows, but I didn't buy it to race. Dependable and everything works. Other than about 3 or 4 trips down a 1/8 mi just for kicks and to make sure it's running right, I haven't raced it.

In the process of posting pics. Purchased on TurboBuick just about 6 years ago. I had planned to only own it for a year or two to drive and enjoy, but wound up keeping it 6. I do have records of what I've done for maintenance and repairs.

Are those bolts in the trunk floor?
Yes. Those familiar with these cars have told me it looks like it was most likely an alky system. I don't have any firsthand knowledge as it was like that when I bought it.
 
How negotiable is the price?
I've had several ask similar questions. Please don't take this offensively as it's a reasonable question. Right now we're mostly at the Q&A stage. I'm happy to answer any questions about the car. While not that active, I've been a member of this forum and the V8Buick forum for many years. Every question will be answered with utmost honesty and anyone is welcome to send someone to check out the car. I want anyone who decides to buy the car to do so with all knowledge available to them. When someone decides they want to negotiate to buy the car, we can discuss. I do not intend to be unreasonable, but I'm not going to give it away. I can always just keep it as a driver car. It's dependable and runs well. It had 50k miles when I bought it and I've not had any trouble with it. All repairs made are typical for cars of this age.

The car is a nice driver. The interior isn't perfect mint, but in very nice condition - clean, no evidence anyone ever smoked in it - just very nice. It does not have that "old car" smell. Most of the plastic film on the black plastic dash and console still has yet to be removed. The body has no rust that I've been able to find. The undercarriage looks like a car that's been driven, but I haven't seen anything of concern. The paint appears to be mostly original, though it looks like some parts have been touched up - primarily trunk. Considering what a lousy job GM did painting cars of that time, it's presentable - 15 footer. No fading, but there is wear - again the car has been driven. The fiberglass nose appears to be a replacement, but I see no evidence the car has ever been in any accidents - those parts do sometimes just crack.

Everything works. AC system works very well as I had a brand new Delco compressor installed when I bought the car. The AC worked at the time, but the clutch was faulty. New ball joints and bushings. It is tuned to run stock (boost is set at stock - around 13ish). I'm not into racing. I never cared about being the fastest GN, just the one most likely to actually show up at the meet.

The Concert II sound system is pretty good for 80s era, but I've replaced the rear speakers with an identical size set from Crutchfield - no cuts have been made, they mounted just like the stock speakers.

Reasons I'm selling the car - 1) promised the wife I was only going to keep it for a couple of years (it's been 6 - she's been patient, but it's time to follow my word) - 2) I need to put more focus on my first old car - the '72; 3) I have three teenagers, so I feel like a CarMax car jockey every time I want to get one of my cars out; and 4) my father recently passed away and I'll be bringing his car here - I can't keep them all.

Thanks z16z06. These things do take time. Now if the rain would stop in Houston, we could get on with the normal car show schedule, which is a good place to sell, but the weather's been horrible this month for shows.

I have read a lot of different responses to questions of price negotiation but I will say yours struck me as very dignified and respectful. The first thing people seem to ask anymore is will you take less and its like, you haven't driven it or even seen it in person! This usually elicits an arrogant or rude response from the seller. Your response proved what type of person you are, a genuine good person who equally respects others time and shows them consideration.
You have a very nice GN and if I were looking for one, you are the type of guy I would want to buy from, not some jerk just cause the car is $1000 cheaper but won't answer questions.
Anyway, glws, I just thought I would comment on how your response should give future lookers confidence when purchasing.
