Can anybody tell me anything about this oil pan. On the tag it says buick v6 oil pan. I have a 4.1L 291 block that I want to build, the question is can I use this oil pan. It has a small hole on the bottom of the pan. I will get that fixed if I can use the pan. It has four trap doors in it, looks pretty neat. Here are some picture below:

There's no place for the cross over so my best guess is someone married a circle track SBC pan to the V6 Buick. You'd need to modify the pan to use it unless you wanted to run NA or Stage with a blower.;) How much did you pay for it?

Moroso made a Buick V6 oil pan in the 80's. I'm not sure if that is a home built or an original. It sure looks like one I saw in a book.

The reason I say fabricated is because the top part is a stock pan, and to the best of my knowledge Moroso Only had an aluminum pan that was stamped. The other ones I remember were completely non stamped on the top where it mounts to the block.

RJC has a deep sump 14 bolt pan. No offense, but I would hang that orange thing on the garage wall and move on. By the time you clean it up and make it work, you will be ahead of the game if you go with the RJC piece.

I might be interested in it if you give up on it. I was going to cut the bottom out of a stock pan and put a similar trap door setup in a sump to fit my Riv's rear steer chassis.

Here is a photo from the V6 Performance book by Pat Gahnal. I was out of town and did not have access to the book. It looks like the pan in the book.

Yes that's it, it looks exactly like that. Thanks for the information.

Here are 2 more photos including one of the pickup. These are from Jim Ruggles Buick V6 Performance Guide.

That pan is made by Moroso for the V6 to Ruggles spec. It works very well, much better than a stock type pan. It went with the block girdle they made back then too. Biggest problem is the crossover which will require some massaging of the pan /pipe or both to fit.

Let me get this straight, you're building a new motor and you want/intend to use that oil pan? Why not use the 7.5 qt, 20 bolt RJC pan? Doesn't seem to make much sense to spend 12 to 20k building a motor and not spend a couple of hundred for a new oil pan. Good luck....
