Well I went and gave my older son GN#1, I thought long n hard about the decision and felt he had matured enough to now take ownership of it. I still have GN#2 in the garage so I still have my fix.

Charlie , I understand what your saying. Believe me I've thought about it long and hard. I had my son working at age 15, told him if he wanted anything , he had to work for it just as my father showed me to work for what you want. At 17 he got on with Fed-Ex and has been with them for 4 yrs now. Against my advice he married his high school sweetheart, and has matured these last few years. I figured I would just give it up now and show him how to monitor sc while reading the numbers it shows. I'm Proud of my son. Which is more than some fathers can say about their boys. Maybe it's where I work- Prison- that makes me feel this way.

You're a good Dad - he'll be fine.... (go to Church and light a candle, just to be safe...)

1970 AAR Cuda - thanks Dad (1977)
1987 Regal T (47k miles)
1996 Corvette CE Coupe LT4 Red Gut

My Dad did the same thing with me. My white T-type was his car for a couple years until he handed it over to me at 17 years old as a high 11sec car. 22 years later, I still own it and treat it as my exotic car. No accidents or any speeding tickets since I have taken ownership of the car, which was amazing because in my late teens and early 20's, I street raced the hell out of it and ran damn near anything that pulled beside. We would race all night til the sun came up and sneak back in the house before my parents got up. Ahhh the good ol days.
Now I am a wuss................... I know what I have and try to preserve it. It comes out for cruises now, not beatings. And gets polished more then its driven.

I guess I can't say all kids my age will destroy their car.. My best friend and myself meticulously care for our cars. He has an 87 Iroc and I have my GN. We probably wash and wax the cars once or twice a week depending on the weather...

I remember when i got my first one when i was 18. Thing is I think I have a heavier foot now than I did back then. I remember being told there was no way it was a 12 sec car. It wasn't possible. Then it went 12.400@107mph promptly after that.

I had 5.0 Mustangs all through high school,,, (hey it was the late 80's and I didnt have a big enough Mullet to drive an IROC:eek:) Then at 19 I got my azz kicked by a GN and it has been Buick every since.

Dave, usually when we go to church and light a candle, it's for someone who has fallen ill, or is about to meet out dear lord. So I will hold off on lighting that candle. I ran into my son 2 days ago, and it felt odd seeing the GN going down the road and me not be in it. So I flipped a bitch an followed him as he tuned into gas station. I asked how she was running, he says ok. When he started it I heard an exhaust leak, as I had swapped the turbos on them. So I showed him where it was leaking from and what 3 bolts needed to be tightened.

I also just got mine from my dad. It was his. All original '86 with t-tops Except brand new paint and a few minor maintenance things. It has 113k on it, and he has had it for the last 12+ years and only put 10k on it since he had it. So he gave it to me this past summer. I will take good care of it. He was thinking of selling it but he knew how much I liked the car. He doesn't need the money and would rather keep it in the family. Besides... that opens up another spot the garage... I know the way he thinks! He has itchings and he hasn't scratched them in a while. He has always had a muscle car ever since he was old enough to drive. I believe his first car was a 1970 GTO Judge with RamAir. He also used to own this car www.1970hemicharger.com (L. Nicholls) and apparently it's for sale... and he always wanted to get that car back!

update 2-16-2013, well Im not sorry to say , But I had to take GN#1 away from my Son. I guess he didn't believe me when I said - Take care of it. I have put to much money and sleepless nighs into it o_O , just to have him start to neglect it. not to any fault of his own, as he was going through a rough spot as his new wifey had an affair. and in doing so my Boy couldn't see straight. so , that he not Damage the GN I took it away and left him with just the volvo I bought him. I had forgotten how much a girl, woman , chick or B##ch  , could mess a young mans mind up. hopefully he will open his eyes and wise up. anyhow, GN is safe back at home and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe once im no longer here , I won't see what they do with it and it will no longer matter to me. so as of rightnow , my youngest Bradley will inherate both GN's , as he shows more promise at taking care of them. not to mention , he will also get my SRT8 Jeep and Trailblazer SS. Damn he's gona be one lucky kid, when he gets his liscense. :D

Would you have any interest in adopting a 35 yr old to be your son?I promise I will take excellant care of the srt8 and trailblazer ss.Lol,btw I already have my license too!:D

Wow! what a lucky kid, my dad sold the first car he promised me an 87 monte ss later on I eventually got an 01 vette of course modded up. I totaled my vette on the way to pick my dad up from work So I was driving and hit i a semi tire doin 70mph on a highway that wasnt lit up at all. So after that I tried talking my dad into selling me his GN since i knew it was done right, of course he wouldnt do it. So i ended up buying one eventually, since then Ive been fixing all sorts of things that the previous did wrong. such as bad wiring, wrong steering column, a couple of vacuum leaks and a bad trans. Im sure I'll find more issues down the road.

truckndude, I'll adopt you, but I dought Bradley will let you drive his inheratance. ;) tweaked, stick with it, even though I only drive my GN's on weekends or summer days, they still are my pride n joy.

Good move w/ the "repo"... Mine did the same thing.. A totally restored GN, got left outside, stuff stolen off of it, yadda, yadda...Pretty much the same story w/ the biatch.
He wound up selling it B4 I could get to it....

oh man, I don't know what i would've done if he planned on selling it. Guess thats why I held on to the Title. :p
