I asked this ? once before and no responce. Has anyone on the board installed one of these POS dash? He says he has sold 50+--someone must have one. I have many ? and can't get any help from the supplier. thanks

What do you want to know?

I have one minus the gauges and wiring he sells ( I used VDO ) so I might be able to help.

Matt

Several of them have sold on Ebay for around 700.00. They are supposed to be plug n play with no issues.

My ? concern the gauges---wireing ?? Tach is of 30 percent---Speedo reads 55 when it is actually 45. Temp reads 195 when it is 180. Tach has dip switches 1-8. which ones should be on--which ones should be off? All S.W. gages. Boost is 15 PSI, worthless IMO--need a 30. Will not return calls. Has a plug and play wireing harness which is supposed to use all the factory wires. No instructions as to how to adapt to SW sending units. John from Caspers has been all the help he can, but can't answer all my ? I have a car in my garage that I need to finish. Have been waiting all day for a return call. Nothing.

This customer gave $1800 for this POS @ BG last year with no sending units. Now he has to pay $150 extra for the temp. and oil pressure senders. $20 and $35 I now find out through Summit.

I hate to have do it this way but

All they have to do is return my call--help me get it finished.

Good to know. Was gonna order one for myself. I think I will steer clear now.

LOT,
Sorry, cant help you with the dip switches on the Tach as mine is a VDO. What are you comparing the temp gauge reading to? The ECM sender reads from a different location than the sender for the gauge so there might be a slight variable there. Did you get the wiring harness with it or are you fabricating one? The only two sending units you need are oil and water. You can replace the factory oil one with a a SW one or tee off it. Replace the idiot light sender for temp gauge with the SW one. The speedo uses the VSS head off the factory unit and attaches to the backside off the SW speedo. The tach, fuel, oil and water temp should connect to the new wiring harness and use the factory wires all the way to the new sending units. Did you get any directions with it ???

If you want email me mptp98@cox.net

Yeah...I would wait until something better comes along. I have an old Performance Instruments GNX style dash and I wish he wouldn't have closed his business down. Poston's tried to pick up where he left off but their product was crap.

I've been really hoping to see Casper's put one on the market and I've heard rumors they are...

I know with mine I had to put on another VSS and the speedometer (a Stewart Warner) had a wire with a button for zeroing it and setting it. The Stewart Warner website should have instructions for which settings to use for the tachometer.

I still have my instructions from Performance Instruments, it was plug and play too...not sure if it would help or not but I could scan them and post them.

I have Caspers plug and play harness--John has helped all he can. I am comparing readings between SW gages and Direct Scan. I have sent an e-mail to SW asking how the dip switches should be set. As for the speedo--I am going to change the driven gear to one with 2 more teeth--currently it has a 30 tooth (factory)--will try a 32 ( shouldn't have to do any of this @ the price they charge). Still no return call. My problem now is getting the
gages calibrated. I got instructions for the plug and play. This was done by Casper. I got templates for the necessary cutting of plastic components. I have all that done. There should have been detailed instructions on how to install and wire the senders and step by step instructions on how to install the unit. It didn't know to keep or delete the factory oil sender. Guess you can do either. I take it they assume you have installed these before and know what they are thinking. I have way too many hours in this.

Of the 6 gages in the panel---3 of them were installed crooked. The panel has locating slots @ the bottom of the holes--the gages have protuding dimple so gages stay located. Had to remove the gages and file the slots so they would be straight.
It comes with a 15 psi --30 vacumn gage. I called and talked to someone--not the owner, asking about a 30 psi boost gage. Waited 8 days for an answer--no return call. Called again and talked to same person he informs me I could use a 30 psi VDO gage. After some searching I found a 30 psi SW gage. Had to change the face so it would match the 5 other gages. Am I asking to much to talk to the owner (designer) of this overpriced POS. It's like pulling teeth to an answer about anything. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about buying one to reconsider.

World of Motorworks GNX Dash

I had an old AVC "GNX Style Dash" with their own version of a plug n play harness and VDO gauges......kept the gauges and wiring harness....

I've now got these VDO gauges installed in a "World of Motorworks" GNX dash . Noticed that my VDO water temperature gauge reads about 20deg F higher than my scanmaster shows. I'll pay closer attention to the other scan master read outs and compare to my VDO gauges next time out in the car. I'm sure they will not have the same readout as the SM as well.

Seems that it's not a unique problem related only to SW gauges.

As with most products made for these old cars......you should expect to do some "tweaking" during the installation process.

Overall, I'm happy with the end result.

web site

Which one is this? Do you have a link?

World Of Motorworks
Appears it is $1600
So I assume plug and play harness is another $200
Then another $ 150 for the senders
Plus the labor for myself
This guy will have a ton of $ in this.

I have VDO gages in my car and they are very accurate with DS.

I have a WOMW setup (minus SW gauges) as well. Speedhut gauges were what I decided to go with throughout the car. If you're looking to go with a 30#, check them out (Gauges, Custom Gauges, Tachometers, Speedometers, Shift Light, Pod). You can basically design your own.

I have talked to Paul (the owner) several times. He has always taken care of anything I needed. I will say he has had some recurring health issues over the last couple of years. I haven't heard from him in a while, so perhaps something has taken a turn for the worse. I am not sure.

Good luck with your issues and if I happen to talk to Paul anytime soon, I will direct him to this thread.

I heard from John @ Caspers that he was having health issues. I understand that. I have a low tolerance for people who can't handle business. If he has time to run my credit card, he has time to give me a call. That's all I ask. Too late now, as after many hours searching I may be close to finishing. I got a return e-mail from SW tech telling me how to set the dip switches. IMO they should have been set up for a 6 cyl. from the vendor. I shouldn't have to spend hours looking then days waiting on info. that should have been provided. Thanks to all who replied.
