We are proud to announce our latest line of turbochargers for the 1986-1987 Turbo Buicks & the 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am. With the up coming 30th Annual Buick GS Nationals right around the corner, we thought it would be only fitting to bring out this latest line of turbochargers just in time for this event. These new models feature our unique, CEA (Competition Engineered Aerodynamics) machined forged aluminum compressor wheels and our HP Technology turbine wheels. In addition, these new turbochargers will have the Stock Appearing TA style compressor cover, for a true stealthy and stock appearance. They are available with our standard journal bearings, or our latest Air Cooled Dual Ball Bearing cartridge. With regards to your oil feed line, oil drain line, heat shield and downpipe. These turbochargers will also be available with your choice of a Precision Buick 3-bolt style turbine housing in .63 or .85 A/R. They are designed to work with a Standard Duty wastegate actuator or a Heavy Duty wastegate actuator that bolts to a stock turbo. There are four new models to choose from.

These new models are:

TA5557 turbo, rated to support 560 flywheel hp.
TA5857 turbo, rated to support 600 flywheel hp.
TA6262 turbo, rated to support 675 flywheel hp.
TA6265 turbo, rated to support 695 flywheel hp.

The TA5557 turbo would be a nice replacement for older TA32, TA49, TA60 and TA51 turbochargers.

The TA5857 turbo would be a nice replacement for older TA52, TA53 & TA54 turbochargers.

The TA6262 and TA6265 turbochargers would be nice replacements for older TA63 and TA64 turbochargers.

Here are some pictures of a TA6265 turbo with Heavy Duty actuator.

There are extremely limited quantities available and these new turbochargers will be sold on a first come, first served basis. So get them while you can. Please note that the price includes a $25.00 refundable core charge for the return of the stock TA style compressor cover. Compressor cover cores need to be in good, re-usable condition. Cores should be shipped back to us within 30 days of purchase date on the new turbocharger and the shipping cost for the return of the core is the responsibility of the customer. As always, these new TA series turbochargers, will feature our 12 month warranty period, starting from the date the turbo ships out.

The journal bearing version of these turbochargers will be offered for $1,024.99.

And the Air Cooled Dual Ball Bearing version of these turbochargers will be offered for $1,624.99.

Wastegate actuators are sold separately and not included in these prices.

We are excited to bring our latest Technology to the Buick market and we Greatly Appreciate your Business.
From all of us here at Precision Turbo,
Thank You.

Is the billet inlet bell extra $$$ as well?

Any TA-series 6768 in the making??

K.

The billet aluminum inlet bell will be included with each model turbo.
So far, the TA6265 is the largest available. And with a conservative 695 flywheel hp rating, it would definitely be able to run a good number.

New TA style turbo's

Can any of these be used in a draw through type set up? We'll the seals hold up? If not can they be had with a carbon seal backing plate?

Thanks, Pete

Currently these is nothing in the works for the carbon seal back plate requirement turbos. Nor are these units recommended for draw through applications. They are direct bolt on replacements for the 1986-1987 Turbo Buicks and 1989 Pontiac 20th Anniversary Turbo T/A. And lastly, there are no Upgrade options on any of the older TA series turbos.

Ill be in the market for a TA49 or something like it in the next year, but not immediately, hope theres enough to go around

Interesting alternative for guys that want at stock look. What are the recommended stalls for them?

Where were these about 3 months ago? Could an existing TA-49 be built with the new wheels.

Plans were in the works, parts were being gathered and machining for the TA covers was being planned. And for the second part, please re-read the end of my last post. No upgrades will be available for older TA series turbos. These turbos will all be sold as new units out right.

Benefits you ask? Quicker spool up due to more aerodynamic wheel designs. Our CEA Billet compressor wheel technology, combined with our HP series turbine wheel technology, = Win Win for everyone. More power at similar boost levels. If you take a journal bearing TA-49 and compare it to a new TA5557 with the Air Cooled Ball Bearing cartridge, the spool up differences would be outstanding. Same would go for all the others in the list when comparing it to an older turbo that supports similar or the same hp levels.

Not too mention the longevity you gain with the air cooled dual ball bearing cartridge, which by the way, is fully rebuildable in house. Unlike the older water cooled dual ball bearing cartridges which were not rebuildable. The stall ratings should be the same, as the other turbos in the the New School vs Old School chart I posted in the past. (See sticky post above) If anything, with the smaller TA style compressor cover, they should spool slightly sooner than the other larger compressor cover equipped turbos.

I personally can't wait to see what one of the TA6265 turbos can do on a purpose built street car. I know it's the one that I would want on a car like my old Blue car. Would I get it with the Air Cooled Dual Ball Bearing option? Absolutely!

Patrick,

Do you have a time table to update the website?
A TA6265 with one of your SLIC would be a nice sleeper set up.

Would be/Could be neat to see one of the TA-6265's show up to compete in the TSA class vs. the rest of the current field running "old school" turbos... I'm just say'n... ;)

So the hot air cars are left out in the cold again...... can't you vendors just make one model that would work on our cars so we can take advantage of the new tech? you don't have to make a whole line, we're not greedy, just one housing so we can use the new wheels, we got money, we didn't have to pay alot of money for an ic car so we got extra cash, just no parts, or should I say no NEW parts , again. another fantasical turbo rollout for the IC cars. :(

At least you have an upgrade option. I had to make my own since there's no upgrades for the carb/turbo cars.
