Turbo redesign for a carb turbo system

Lol okay I'm probably really supposed to be on Ritalin. Ah I'll just medicate myself with something else.
Charlie you posted 4 compressor maps which one is the 301/tta?

The parts will coming your way next week Ronnie. I get them back tomorow if my tranny in my DD holds up for the drive. After 209K I can't complain but the timing could be better.:mad: I'll have several parts for you to coat if everything works out. Thanks again Ronnie.

questions do i have to cut the housing or can i let it over hang the valve covers more and make a new support bracket? i will post pics of the turbo; is the exhaust blades good or bad? where do i get a compressor wheel. how much can i get for the turbo the way it sits; i might want to sell it.

Damn Hijackers, lol
Is the turbine shaft still in one peice? The compressor wheel is looking familiar now. I had one of my drawthru turbo's fail and the turbine shaft broke in two and both wheels just did what ever they wanted too in their housings.

Get the intake side off and see what the blades look like Matt. You don't have to cut the housing but I did so that everything would fit like it was stock. I think you understand why I said check out the thread for you answers now.

I'm glad I could help you Matt. So it's running better now? You need to update the other thread so if someone does a search they can find the info for later.

Holy crap Charlie. I was just going to send my compressor and exhaust housings to ADP (Turbos.com) and have them machine them to install a T3/T4 hybrid in them. lol. I only had a stock turbo, but I noticed in your pics all of yours have a flat spot on the compressor foot. That is where mine had an extra threaded hole that I put the pre-turbo alky nozzle in.

On a side note, something that I was playing around with the idea of was a blow off valve. Not sure how it would have worked though.

LMFAO:biggrin: Been doing research for a couple of years Pat. That's how I came up with the idea. Philbuilt helped a lot as well as GN/TTYPE.org. Rich po-poed the idea but from the info I've gathered it's the best idea to get the C/T design into the 11's. If a BOV is to be incorporated then it needs to go back to the exhaust pre-turbo to allow for the increase of the spool. If you haven't followed DonWG's (Donnie Wang in Cal) thread on advancement of fuel delivery then you need to look it up in the alky forum. Good info for sure on how to spool a turbo. He is letting all of us see what he's doing hand how he's doing it.

A little more

Here's the mock up before I send it to Ronnie for powder coating. I've spent the last couple of days smoothing the housing and trueing the exhaust surfaces. I took the pic next to the complete TTA turbo so you can get a better idea of size difference. A little smaller overall but pretty close to the same size. Everything looks about like I thought it would. A little more cleaning up and it's ready for coating and puting back together for trial fitting and fabing up the downpipe.
