How Rare?

One of my buddys has a 1987 T-Type Limited that has the cream/beige color. I was wondering if anyone had any idea if this is a rare car or not with the Limited and cream/beige combination...?

Sorry I don't currently have any pictures. It came with the chrome on the sides of the car which was included in the limited option I believe. The color (cream/beige) is basically a dark yellow.

Turbo limiteds are rare in general, I would think the cream color is extra rare. Even regular non limited T's did not commonly come in cream color.

the limiteds could have also been ordered without the chrome trim, that would be the W02 (blackout package) instead.

Ya. I haven't seen any other tb's with this color or much less with the Limited. I heard that with this combo it was like 1 in 4 but I am not sure.

Here I found a Pic. The wheels are obviously different and it doesn't have the chrome panels on it now...

Either the pic is a little off on the resolution or the car was painted with another color. Depending on where you look Buick either called that color Cream Beige or Magnolia. A very pale yellow if you ask me. The paint code should be 54. I don't recall seeing a Limited painted that color but I have seen a few turbo Regals painted with it. Here's a fuzzy pic of a SPID label from a non Limited TR showing what the color should be closer to anyway. Now you could have ordered a Regal with the Limited moldings and that's probably what that car is. It's hard to see but your car looks like it has buckets seats and you could not order buckets with the Limited interior. The RPO code for the Limited molding package is WF6. Code 54 paint is the only code that comes close to the description. While it's a common misconception that you could have ordered a car in any color you wanted I can tell you that is truely a myth and I can easily debunk it by checking the paint codes on the cowl tag. That paint code may be on a GM memo that Dennis Kirban has on file stating that GM and Buick discontinued a few colors in the second half of production because they were slow sellers or in other words not very popular which explains why it and along with Sage and Brown are very rare colors today.:)

The car is actually my grandpas car and has the original color it came with. He is the original owner and the car has only been repainted once because the original paint that GM used for these cars was sometimes of bad quality. So I believe you could bring the cars back in and have them repainted. That was the case with this car. That is the only time it has been repainted. We know the color is cream/beige from the original window sticker. As far as codes it should be 54 then like you say but I will look over the codes the next chance that I get. The car has a bench seat in front with the column shifter. Couldn't you only get T's with the column shifter except the blacked out T??? (Is it WE4 I believe for the code or something like that?) Thanks for the info with the car and the codes. I will have to check the codes on the car when I get a chance again.

Incorrect.

Slow91z can you explain your comment then...

Sure...You could get T's with a console shifter and bucket seats...Just like a GN only not the "fancy" grey and black interior.

Here is an example of a T with Blue interior.

Ahh I see. I wasn't sure about that. Was that an option you could add on any T or is it only with something special in particular? Whats your opinion on the cream/beige limited combo...?

You see more T's with Buckets that with Benches...Available in regular T's, but not Limiteds.

There are definitely more knownledgeable people in this thread than me, but I know from talking with Kip and others that that color is rare in any Turbo Regal, and Turbo Limiteds were low production so with that info in mind I have to think it is a very rare car...No way to pin down exactly how rare it is though.

It's 1 of 1035 if it is truly a turbo-t limited, but that's about as detailed as you can get with the numbers. Vin # should go like 1G4GM....M denotes limited. Cream/Beige is definately one of the less common colors. You could get buckets in a limited along with the rare shorty console.

All turbo limiteds were column shift and have unique/more plush door panels with better pulls and they say Limited on them. The plastic dash insert on the passenger side should light up when the headlights are on and should say Regal Limited

Thanks for the info everyone. It is a turbo T limited and has the plastic emblem that lights up aswell as the door limited emblem by the pulls. If anyone knows anything else let me know...

Mine is close to the above with leather but was made special order & has no hood ornament, no fender lights but does have coach lites by the rear windows. People that had the connections (not me) got the cars almost any way they wanted them. Mine was ordered by the VP of Buick Canada as his name is on the build sheet in his writing. Nick Hall was his name & he built it for his brother in law who was the VP of Canada Trust Banks. He drove it under a year to try it out & then I got it. First person to see it & I told him sold after we talked on the phone for a while. Car was 2 hours away so I brought cash & certified check for him. I know who he is since it was 2 hour drive & with 21K in my pocket I wanst going to waste my time. He had a LOT of Toys!!
