Remember the Evo with past competitor driving story from a few weeks back?
As I raced his Evo, he reminded me about an accounter we had way back on my old tired stock combo when he beat me while he was in his girlfriends Cobra....

Well....he found me again yesterday and he was in his girlfriends Cobra again.

He blew around me first to get my attention, and there was a red light ahead so I got up there along side him not knowing it was my old pal yet.

As I pulled up...
Me: OK...what mod's you got?
Him: All stock
Me: Me too...all stock with some bolt ons:biggrin:
Him: Remember me? I was in the Evo a few weeks back?
Me: Yup....I recognize you.
Him: You wanna go?
Me: I just came from that direction a few minutes ago and saw a cop up that way...so ...I dunno if he's still there. If we do this we can't run it out
Him: OK

As the turn lane traffic from the opposite direction cleared the intersection...I hear him start brake boosting.

I don't brake boost cuz I just blow these street radials off when I do so I have no choice but to give him the jump and hope I can real him in.

Green light...we're off....

He got out about 2-3 lengths before I got up to boost and felt the GN start to really pull....
Instead of rolling into the throttle off the line, I floored it and something just didn't feel right. The GN was acting sluggish (warm day might have had something to do with it) and did not hit hard or pick up as quick as it does when I roll into it....so I was not pulling him in the way I'd hoped. My tires did spin a bit, but they didn't blow off the way they do if I hit it from like a 5-10 mph roll...maybe it just gets too much fuel when I nail it to the floor off the line....I dunno.... but it didn't feel right.
Maybe ....I'm just not used to watching the faster car walk me....

As I mentally started to cry....I was doubting his "Stock" claim as I looked it his bumper. This Cobra had some tweaks...it was definitely faster than a high 12 stock Cobra and didn't sound totally stock either.

It looked like I was just starting to reel him back in a little when he hit third, but then....with the cop in mind.... it was over. He shut it down, so did I .... and he moved over to turn while I went straight. I gave him a thumbs up as I went by.
He is my official nemisis since his girlfriends Cobra has now taken my lunch and drank my milk twice.

....and then as I look in my rear view...I see this BMW comin' up on me a little hot...it was a 2003 M5.

I'm thinking...OK bud....no sign of that cop...and my feelings are hurt:frown:...I just got killed and it aint gonna happen twice on the same day.

He slowed and paced me for about a mile which was good cuz I needed time for things to cool off a little before making another run.

Red light up ahead and we come up on either side of a F250.
Oh boy are you gonnna get it....

Green light....
As I roll in and get around the truck, I see and hear M5 boy going at it, so I nail it to the floor and after some normal tire spin...I just left him...wasn't even close. This time the GN felt like it was pulling normally.
Maybe it's cuz I was winning....

I got home and looked under the hood to see if anything obvious was wrong that caused the GN to feel doggish when floored from a stop. I did spot...and kind of hear...a crack in my driver side header between the 3 and 5 pipe. It's cracked there before and was rewelded...looks like I need to fix that and hope it's my excuse...uh....I mean..... my reason for the slow spool and WOT pick up from a dead stop that lead to my demise against the Cobra.

I'm sure I'll see him again....

Sorry to hear about the header and kill, takes a man to show up in here and admit defeat

I had a leak in the header on my cobalt SS Supercharged. Once I fixed that it pulled differently. I didn't think just a small amount of air like that would make a difference, but that just might be your problem.

YOU know there is a difference right? S/C runs off belt exhaust leak makes not difference at all!!! Turbo run off EXHAUST a leak will affect performance!!!
Good kill Chicken
Sorry to hear u lost to a stang

"GALLO" you have to do something about this!!!!!!!this young buck is probably already running his mouth about how he smacked a black regal around:mad:

Thats what data logging is for, you got direct scan... plug it in while your driving and log.

Your chip..as good as it is out of the box is still just a base line for you to work with Tim... eventhough it feels good this day or that day there is room to tune.

But anyway track down your leak

Testify!!!

If the leak is in the range of an O2 sensor to pick up it can make a difference in fueling.

so, how do you hide all your speeding tickets from your wife?

Here in Georgia, they take us to jail and impound our cars if no one will come and get them. The whole process is rather expensive after bond, attorney's fees, etc... The whole thing made me stop. Now if someone else is driving that's another story. You just have to remember where your friend left his bail money!:D

I've been lucky enough to space my tickets at least 2 years apart so I'm always eligible for traffic school when I get one. Last one was in June 08....so I'm walking on a tight rope till next June.

Before my 18th b-day, I was not so lucky....I had 13 tickets and 7 accidents, and my license was suspended once for 6 months (I think it was 6). But that experience tought me to get to know the hunter (the Law man) better...and to not be completely careless about when I turn up the volume...Cops can....and sometimes will... decide to just leave you alone if you are not tying to kill everyone around you be weaving around through traffic and blowing through intersections, etc.

Now I know the tactics of the hunter pretty well and also have a good eye for them so that helps me to avoid most tickets.....but I really should get a good radar/laser detecter....my eye's cannot see anything that moves at 12.36 micro-seconds per range mile (The speed of a Doppler radar pulse) or the speed of light (The speed of a laser pop).

Summed up...while I'm behaving like a fool...I'm kinda smart about how I do it....and....I'm friggin' lucky....

I only got busted for street racing once. Just before my 18th b-day....at the time it was a misdemeanor. I spent 3 hours in the pokie, my dad bailed me out, my friend drove my car home (and used up my back tires in the process:mad:), I got dinged with a $500 fine. The laws and penalties are more severe now....

Here in Cali, if they get to know you as a street racer. They take your car and crush it....plus charge you for it ....and make you watch....you also are pinged for a felony reckless driving (jail time, bail, fines). The above does not happen frequently, and so far has only happened to guys who are repeat offenders for felony street racing or had been completely reckless (racing through traffic)...but you can Google it and find some sad stories.

I'm definitely careful about where and when I go for it....but....if so many people weren't trying to race me....I'd never do it.
It's all their fault, Officer:rolleyes:
I'm just going with the flow of traffic!

sorry to hear the loss that just sucks.i make it a weekly routine to read ur kills so when im old i can pass them as my own:p

I bet that Cobra had good tires on it

LOL at the poor M5! Be careful though with those cars from a roll :D

You'll be proud of me...
Yesterday I ordered a set of 275/50/15 Nitto 555 DR's and they'll be going on next week with 1/4" spacers behind them.
Also putting a set of 235/60/15 Firestone Indy's on the front.

As I watched that Cobra's bumper....I was hoping for an ending like this one. The video does not show the finish line, but....Donnie Wang reeled this guy in after giving him 4+ length head start and then beat him by a couple 10th's.
Check out the 1/4 mile mph on Donnie's GN and on the losers....

YouTube - Pinks All Out at Bakersfield 2009

This was done at the Pinks All Out in Bakersfield a couple weeks back. The Episode will air on Thanksgiving and hopefully Donnies exciting run down of this victim will make it into the highlights...the crowd near the startin line first groaned because it looked like a blow out in the other guys favor....and then went wild when Donnie ran him down.
This wasn't just a kill.....it was an outright violent murder....:D
