Many have wondered... many have asked so here it is...:)

We just installed a 6262 journal bearing on a stock unopened 110k mi GN with a stock converter. The car has Julios alky control, 009's, 340,external gate ATR DP and a TT chip. Cal ported the wastegate hole to match the ATR DP and did all of the alky and fuel tweaking. I did the driving.

In my opinion , this turbo spools very well with a stock converter. It is not lightning quick, but we found it very acceptable. This car had a GT32 which spools very fast. Any comparrison to the GT32 would be unfair but its all we had. The owner found the new unit to spool up nicely, just not as fast. He was very with the power. We went from 26 psi on the GT32 to 20-22psi on the 6262. The car was much faster with much lest boost. This car was equipped wth nittos on stock rims and still spun the tires depending on where the throttle was applied. Once the turbo comes in its spools fast.

In my opinion the 6262 will work very well with a stock tire GN as it will keep tire spin to a minimum. Also, a RJC boost controller should help spool even further. Just one final note. This car is 100% daily driven as evident by the grease marks..lol But it is solid. No issues of any sort electrical or mechanical.

Cal will be up grading the Alky kit to dual nozzles which will allow us to turn it up some more. We will know more next week as Julio is sending up the Alky control upgrades. We will know more then.

Here are some pics. Sorry about the quality, all i had was my phone.

Louie thank a bunch for the update! If I ever listened to and took advice from, it guy's like yourself that has been in the game for a while. I was going to go with this turbo last week then opted for the journal 6265 which I also heard very good things about.

I have one question, is it really necessary to upgrade the Alky kit to dual nozzles at this point with out heads and cam ect? If so, I may need to upgrade too due to having Champoin GN1's, roller cam ect.

Ray,
You R welcome. In short, no you do not as long as you have enough alky now.

Thanks Louie. I'll probably into the PAC and advance the factory setting a little bit. I'll give Julio a call in the AM, thank again. - Ray

great review this is exactly the feedback i was looking for. do you think a bb version would spool up just as fast as the stock turbo?

I hate to go out on a limb here, but i think yes..or very close. ;)

LOL! FTC - That BB will spool like there is no tomorrow. If it were in my military budget, I'd be on the BB version. Get it if you can brother.

I guess I'll have to wait until Monday to contact Julio, Louie... Forgot tomorrow was Sunday:mad::smile: - Ray

The housing is a PTE .63. These turbos cannot use the old Garretts we are familiar with.

This could be a great street combo when coupled with the newest version of the 10" lock-ups. I have a 2400 rpm version that would love that turbo. It would allow a tighter converter for low slip unlocked yet maintain lock-up for those who need it. This would be almost a stock driver feel yet have 10 second capability. Thanks for that info Louie.

This is nice to hear I wonder what the min. stall would be for this in the average tuned GN..

What kind of power is this turbo capable of? Im also thinking of buying one too.

This all sounds good but I'm waiting to hear someone turning some good times with one.

Im going to order a 6262 today. I will have to report back with some numbers. The tracks around here won't open for another month so I guess I can do a little tuning on the street!

I just ordered a 6262 billet compressor wheel, "E" cover, journal bearing, with a .63 exhaust housing from Cal and Holly at Hartline Performance.

I can't wait to get it. Now if it would just warm up here in Wi. so I can do some testing!
