Hey guys, Just looking too see peoples opinions on the gbody parts upper and lower control arms, The price is right, I know the old saying about you get what you pay for, Just curious how they look, fit, and the quality? They will be used on a regularly driven street car, Thanks in adwance, Ryan

Good prices on them but there is really no point to installing them. If you want to improve your front end geometry, get adjustable uppers from SPC and Marc's new adjustable ride height lowers at Savitske Classic & Custom. You would be suprised how good the stock arms really are. most tubular lowers weigh almost the same as the stockers as well. I'm sure you will save a little weight on the uppers though. Just doesnt really do much as far as the front end goes except being able to tell people you have tubular arms I guess!

My thoughts are this, Im in the middle of a resto and some updates on the chassis, The stock arms need ball joints and bushings, with the downpipe clearance issues a good bushing for the uppers is a must, by the time I have them blasted, paint them, buy the parts and install them its getting to the point where id just assume replace them??

Very true! I just went through this with the lowers on my car. I am actually going through the process of re-doing the stockers. We are boxing them and I bought new MOOG ball joints and new MOOG K6421 bushings. The bushings were $30 or so for both sides and the ball joints were $19 a piece. I bought the shop a case of beer, a bag of Doritos, and a can of salsa for popping the BJ's and bushings out. The boxing is getting done for free as well as the sand blasting. A can of paint and they will be done! So I guess it would be fare to say I probably have around $100 for just the lowers. The SPC adjustable uppers can be had for $299 with Delrin bushings. Through a $20 ball joint in them and you are good to go! If you really wanted to do the right thing, you could install a Howe taller lower ball joint instead of the MOOG to help your geometery out. I believe the Howes BJ is $75. So all in all, you could:

GBodyParts set up: $525 Stock Geometry very little work
Refurbish stock lowers, Howes BJ, SPC uppers, MOOG upper BJ: $470 excellent geometery (but a little work)
Spohn (GbodyParts) lowers, SPC uppers, MOOG upper BJ: $740 OK geometery (BAD Polly Bushings, no taller BJ)
Spohn (GBodyParts) lowers, SPC uppers, MOOG upper BJ, Howes lower BJ: $890 excellent geometery very little work (BAD Polly bushings)

I went with the ATS spindle, SPC upper, C5 13" brakes, stock lowers (boxed and rebuilt), MOOG 5658 7/8" drop spring, MOOG upper BJ, MOOG lower BJ (you dont need a tall lower BJ with the ATS spindle). I dont even want to think about what the total cost is but I'm guessing I'm at about $2250 but the brakes were not cheap! The ATS spindles uses a C5 hub so you can run 13" C5 brakes and it also makes up for the poor geometery being a tall spindle. It also lowers the car 7/8"

I'm going for more of the lowered stance so if it doesnt sit as low as I want it to, I'm going to sell the rebuilt lowers and get Savitske Classic & Custom NEW adjustable lower control arms. These will allow an adjustment of -1, +.5" ride height. Also uses Delrin bushings and has new BJ's. They are $540 though!

We are a Spohn dealer. They recently came out with two different sets of front uppers for the G-body cars. For stock spindles or the tall spindles. I like the fact that they have a bump stop on them. Tubular Upper Control Arms Cross shafts are 4130 moly.

Spohn makes some really nice stuff and new uppers/lowers are coming in the next month or so for me and would have to look at the Spohn's as a first choice.

Are they a direct fit Mark? Cause the ones Otto put on his old car (Don't remember where he got them) were not and had to be worked to make fit. I remember him mother F-ing them when installing....lol Of course that was several years ago.

They are available in Black right?

im running the gbody uppers and lowers, fit great, a true direct bolt on, and freed up alot of room..

Did you install the taller lower balljoints? from Savaski?

Direct fit and like I said, available in two configurations, stock spindle or tall spindle that people use for brake conversions to larger rotors. Available in black or red. Just go to my site to see more.

When you say they are for tall spindles and for regular spindles, are you referencing just for brake upgrades? What is the difference between the teo of them? Stock lowers can be used with either the tall spindles or the stock ones. Thanks for the info.

Another question if you dont mind finding out for me, does Spohn offer any other options for bushings for us guys that dont just drive in a straight line? Also, could you get a total weight with bushings and ball joint for one side for me? I think I have read a few places that the lower control arms from GBodyParts are lighter than stock arms but the Spohns are heavier, even though they claim to be lighter. I just want to verify this.

drives fine, its a weld in unit, the ratio is good, but i sure do miss the quick ratio GN pwr box, if i had to do it again, i would have let the stock pwr box on there

Don't want bushings....... G-Body Front LCA with Rod Ends If you don't want the rod end types of control arms there is also a Delrin bushing option.

Waiting for the weights.:D

On the different uppers. One is for use with STOCK spindles, the other type is for use with TALL spindles that are used in brake conversions.

Ok, I'm sorry I thought you were referring to the lowers being different for taller spindles and that just didnt make sense to me! The different uppers will allow for assistance in aligning them. What is the cost difference to use Delrin bushings in the lowers? Thank you for the help on the weights. I'm doing a lot of comparison shopping here. I really like the idea of having the adjustablitly of the lowers from SCANDC. Marc sells the Spohn brand as well and they are a nice product.

We buy in bulk bud. We get 100 uppers produced & shipped to us per month.
No illegal regal they are not Speedway's. I'm sure you read that some where on the internet so that makes it true.
The lowers we are selling faster then our manufacturer can build. We had 12 sets of lowers leave her from Tuesday till today when the red units arrived.
When you buy bulk orders the prices go down with our manufacturers.

Spohn's lowers are about a 1lb less weight Mark. I spoke with Steve at length for 2 years in getting them built.
We got first cracks at them that is why we ran the special in December on them.

Brett looking at Otto's car I have no idea who's uppers he has on there. I would guess a modified Global west unit.
