i was wondering if you boys could enlighten us on what your combos are and how streetable your car is. what things do you regret doing to your streetable 9 second car that you would recommend not doing.brakes?trans?rearend?everything.

my goal is to get into the high nine's and i am close...but i would like to use your experiences to help me in aiding my choices.

thanks

Hey Kevin,

couple questions for you, did you buy the 9" housing premade or did your build it yourself. also you girdled your block with stock main caps and billet centres? or are they all stock? also, do i am currently running 60#ers, and you are running 96ers. will the 60's do the job or will i need larger ones? lastly, fuel lines what is your opinion on the stock ones, how much can someone puch them to?

thanks for your input.

well i have razors progressive alky system on it, i will give her a try, if not, then i will have to start changing things up.

what would you boys say would be the smallest turbo we buick can use in order to get into the 9's. and how is the streetablity of the gtq70

Turbos are a compromise of low end and top end power. You will need to pick a turbo with the understandings of the power level and street maners that suite you. And most times you will lean one way or the other. I ran a 70 q trim 4 bolt that would have gotten me to the nines with great street maners with great mid range. But I also run a 4.1 so it helps spool. A bb turbo will help a small motor spool a big turbo, so you can get away with more.

Yeah, I know Mellissa can get into the 9's with alky, and a single 340, but I braket race my car and dont want to chance it...

cars still break without alky .. if its just a bracket racing then just run consistent 12.5s and not have to worry about breaking stuff

they are ALL capable   BUT there are a LOT of woulda, shoulda, coulda's out there :p

It's easier and cheaper to buy a 9 sec capable street car...

Did I tell you I had one for sale? :D

I have to agree it is cheeper to buy a car done than to build it. I have a low 8 sec street car of not a high seven. it looks 100% factory stock except rims. that I paid 40 grand for done and its a gnx. I could not build one for that.

people just don't understand  . i know when i'm ready for another quick GN, i'm, purchasing one..

they don't understand a proven 9 sec car thats DONE .. soooo they start spending $5k ..then a few $10ks and then they sell it before its done .. (step in Dan with a fist of $$$$ :p )

My biggest regret is a S-10 manual steering box. If it's a drag car it works fine. But for a street driven car it's a real pain in the ball sack. I plan on eventually putting the TRZ rack in. Should bridge the gap nicely.

I got the 9" in a trade. Not sure on what brand/who made it.
The engine has the RJC girdle, stock caps. If I could do it again, I would go with a stroker and not the stock displacement.
My fuel lines are -8 feed and -6 return. They work fine for me. I wish I went bigger so that I could run e85, but oh well.

Jason's right, it's cheaper to buy one than build one. $18K takes mine;) It's proven, and should be faster this year:)

hey Guys a couple more questions... what is a TRZ rack, and what trim and A/R ratios are you guys running. Dual BB would be a must for me being a 3.8 0.010 over.

The S-10 box is a kick in the ding dong when you have to manuever around the pits or on the street. Going straight down the track it works great. I too would like to do a rack & pinion set-up someday. All about time & $$.
