Ok so once again i go to drive the car and it doesnt work. Mostly my fault. Battery was completely dead for some reason(?) so i jumped it. I hooked the cables up but on the buick side hooked em up backwards. It was like that for about 10 seconds when i noticed the paint on the jumper clamp smoking. I unhooked it and reconnected it the correct way. Tried to start it and it cranks away but doesnt start. I unhooked the battery reconnected and still the same thing. I swear if you look up love hate relationship in a thesaurous you'll see a picture of me and my GN. Please help!! I know its something stupid.

wtf

get a new battery and a battery tender.will keep youre battery charged up.you can get one at any auto parts store.

Ok. i will but why wont it start? Its a FAST ECU so hopefully i didnt blow that. Any one else?

Maybe the ECU is fried:confused: I would check to see if you have voltage going to it. If it does, hook the laptop to it and see if it communicates. If it does, then check the obvious stuff....spark, fuel, etc.

fan delay relay probably killed the battery.

Check all fuses (especially the CCCI). Did you hear the fuel pump prime? Check all the fusable links near the starter and near the battery. Crank sensor?

Just some thoughts.

The fuel pump does prime. I'll check the ECU with the laptop and see if it communicates. I was thinking crank sensor as well. Where and what do the fuseable links look like? Wouldnt the car not even crank if they blew? Thanks for all the input.

I hooked up the laptop and it says ECU not found. Is there some fuseable link or something going to the ECU that may have blow? If so wheres it at? And it is the fan draining the battery. I turned the switch off and it goes to low speed and with the switch on goes to high.

I would find the pin out of the ecu and see if the 12 volt wires have voltage. That would be the easiest way to figure out if it's getting voltage.

Like everyone else said, check for the basics first.... start with the fuses..... there is a fussible-link that gives the ecu power... you cant miss it... its a fussible-link that start from the power side of your battery and has a plug that you can see that runs to your ecu... check for continuity........ good luck....... then i suggest look for the ovbious, burn wires or sensors............

Ok thanks alot. Which pin is the hot to the box? Also, the fuseable link, is that in teh engine compartment or under the panels by teh glove box? Thanks alot guys. Once again, ide like to get it running ,.....again.

Ok i checked the fuseable links at the starter and they all looked good. What exactly am i looking for? Would the wire be completely seperated if it were bad? Is that black plastic thing the link? If so whats that supposed to look like if its bad? Because they all look fine. Thanks alot. I really dont want to replace the FAST box.

Maybe switch ECU's with someone else local? That would eliminate a lot of diagnosing.

I thought of that but i dont know too many people around here with turbo buicks let alone a FAST bank to bank.

UPDATE******** I found a blown 20 amp fuse in the fuse panel that said xxx CLK the first half was worn away and i couldnt read it. Im going to hook up the starter and see what i get.

Well that fuse wasnt the problem but could be a good clue. I replaced it and tried to start the car. Nothing. Checked the fuse again, and it was blown. Went to replace it with the key OFF and as soon as I touched it to its holder it blew. Where do i go from here and what fuse is that?

Folowing this thread closely cause I have the same exact problem, same fuse blown, same deal through and through. I don't wanna go poking at the ECU with my test light not knowing what I am doing so could someone tell us what where to test the ECU at?

I second that. Would like to know where to test the ECU harness for power. Do you also have a FAST?
