Tranny problems - might have run low on fluid.

Hello, Yes, I filled it, and it makes a ratcheting/clicking sound at a low rpm. Doesn't make the sound idling. John.

Tranny problems - might have run low on fluid.

Hello, My '86 T-Type tranny had a leak, I think at the rear seal, and I did not have time to fix it. So.... I filled it before I left for different trips, and it usually did not run too low. But, after one long local trip, the tranny started making a grinding/whining noise, and I think...

    16 Volt Setup

This post reminds me of my old blonde girlfrend, true story ... Who went to Europe on business. Brought her 120 volt curling iron with her from the States, borrowed an adapter to plug it into the hotel 220 volt outlet, let it warm up, then burnt the hair off the front of her head. Funny girl.

Troubleshooting early SMC alcohol injection kit

OK, I will contact him. I emailed him when I thought it was a dead pump, and he had no replacements, but found out you can use the Dodge minivan fuel pump. But as it appears to be the electrical wiring to the pump, maybe he can help. Thanks.

Troubleshooting early SMC alcohol injection kit

Guys, I have an earlier dual-nozzle, round bottle kit from SMC (2002 era). The car has sat a long time, and the alky system doesn't spray now. I have the bottle out of the car, and the pump out of the bottle, and when hooked directly to a battery, the pump runs what seems OK. The...

LS1 front brake upgrade master cylinder

Did something similar, LS1 BU .. I did the Global West front end with LS1 12" brakes up front, and Ford 9" in rear with disc brakes (that I believe came from an Explorer). The car handles much better than before, and except for slight wheel rub on full turns and large BS of front rims, the...

Hydro boost vs power boost vs Vac Brakes

Forgot to Add ... The hydro boost brakes on my truck are the best brakes I've had on a new vehicle. They haul down the truck extremely well. Been impressed from day one, and again recently as I replaced rotors and a couple of frozen calipers from sitting. Too bad I had a problem with it.

Hydro boost vs power boost vs Vac Brakes

Hydroboost died in my Chevy Silverado ... Hello, The hydroboost in my 2000 ChevySilverado 2500 died at 46,000 miles due to broken pump shaft a few years ago. I was lucky to have been going slow on a side street, as on the truck it powers both brakes and steering, and lost both. Very...

    9-Inch Rear: ideal specs for a 9-sec street/strip car

Try a Detroit Locker car before you go that way I have the rear end you want in my car, with a Detroit Locker. I did that to handle the power, but the DLs are a bear to live with. For occasional street use, you'd be OK, but if you really want to drive it a lot like I do, the chattering and...

    upper control arms

Why not upgrade to 1LE 10164152 bushings? Hello, If you have it apart and are looking for the performance advantage of tubular control arms, why not do the full monty and change the bushings to the stiffer rubber ones from GM? Should give you better feel and stiffness, but not be harsh...

    245/45/16 on a GTA wheel ????

Probably won't look good Racer, I am currently running 245/50/16 front, and 255/50/16 rear, on GTA rims, and I think the rear tires look too small and squat on the car. I think a 45 aspect ratio tire would look worse. I like the rims and tires, but they seem a little off. I have 15...

Stock-style downpipe be used with ATR stage II headers?

Hello, I have two different stock-style DPs, both with external waste-gates, one for ATR stock-style headers, and one for stock headers. Can these be used with ATR stage II stainless headers, if I convert the exhaust housing of a GTQ70 turbo to one with a puck hole? I have stage II...

    stage 2 suspension

How similar are the Wolfe/HR sway bars to the old ATR bar? I can commiserate with Duosold in not wanting to have a track car for the street. I had the old ATR 1 3/8ths bar on my car when I bought it, and though it cornered flat, it really rode horribly. The car also had poly bushings, and...

    gerotor front cover update

Don't overlook Turbo1dr's accomplishments Hi Guys, There are a lot of good points being made here as to the feasibility and ease of replacement of this pump application on a TurboBuick. But, Turbo1dr has had his on his car for two years and 14,000 miles. Last I saw his car was running...
