That, and the electro-magnet created by the spinning drive shaft in the electric field helps with traction. It's good for 2 tenths in the quarter mile (according to the Kenne Bell catalog) and it increases skid pad holding to 1.25 g's as verified by the seat-o-the-pantsometer.
