Wheel cylinder Detonation

Hello Everyone

After being restless all winter to get out into the car for a ride, I had a passenger side rear wheel brake cyclinder explode. It tore a hole into the brake mounting plate, along with it destroyed a brake line, shoes and every spring and brake shoe. And I also needed to change my shorts.:frown:

Now that its all torn out I require a new brake mount plate, a new wheel cylinder, and new shoes and hardware.

I am going to replace both sides as they are original as my car is only a 17,000km car.

Is there a good source for descent parts that you would all recomend.

Well, I know GBodyParts.com Online has new backing plates. That would be the only thing you probably can't get from an autoparts store.

did the wheel cylinder explode (very unlikely), or did the backing plate give way and cause everything to get all mangled?

you shouldn't have any problems getting a 'backing plate' from local parts stores, its a dorman part # 13867 and they are cheap at 14.99 at advance ,

they should have the full backer like oe and also can get the easy repair 2 piece one that doesn't require pulling the axles (have to cut the old off )

Trip,

I have the Complete whole rear brake set up that I just removed off my car to install disc brakes. Both backing plates,Very new pads, new springs and all....If your interested give me a call at the number in our banner..
