I have a clearance issue on my 67 GTO where the pass. side header runs past the stock upper contol arm. I really dont want to dent the header so I was wondering, is it a common pratice to just use tubular upper arms and still keep the stock lower control arms?

it seems most people do only use aftermarket uppers. If you really want a lot of header clearence look at something like the setups sold by SCandC.com it eliminates the need for alignment shims and long bolts giving a lot more header clearence, but be warned on my 69 GTO it requires some minor mods to the control arm mount to fit correctly. I installed a set of cooks headers (very expensive) on a 67 with a 455 and they fit great
