I am wondering if anyone has modded an older carbed engine. I bout a '78 Olds Starfire (same as a Monza) with a 3.8L engine, the car has had nearly everything done to bring it back to stock but is pretty gutless. I am not willing to drop a 350 in it and it has a fresh 231 that runs great, but just needs more power.

Any suggestions or comments on what others have done to make more power?

Now I need to update my Sig.

The best thing is to get a later model 3.8 as the 78 has the smaller oiling passages, smaller intake ports in the heads and intake, weaker connecting rods, etc.
My buddy has a 79 Monza Spyder that he recently dropped a 89 TTA engine into. The main problems with it are running the down pipe and clearing the steering shaft.....and thats with the slimmer TTA heads and headers. A GN engine would be much tighter.

Yea, kinda what I thought after reading the changes made to the 231's over on gnttype.org . I think if I do change the engine, I will look for a 3800SC engine. That should easily provide enough oomph to move a little starfire :D
