This car is up for bid and can be seen in greater detail at http://www.gomezvillalon.com/1986gn.htm If the reserve is not met, I will post with the asking price after the auction has concluded.

The description on the web page reads as follows:

1986 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL

Originally purchased in 1990, the car had 36,000 miles. The car has undergone extensive exterior restoration, including a repaint in 1993 with a Sikkens single stage paint, genuine GM replacement seat covers, GNX style wheels, and a 1987 GN grill. The power train and suspension also underwent extensive modification as detailed below. The engine and transmission have less than 1000 miles since rebuild. The car is a show quality 10 second street car and is perfect for the absolute Turbo Regal enthusiast. As you will notice from the pictures, the air conditioning has been removed and tastefully deleted. The car is also a "light weight" version as there are absolutely no power options. All of this make this a cruise night killer and a great performer at the track.

Click on the photos below. Although these photos are somewhat distorted, the linked photos are at a very high resolution. The last two photos are linked to videos. The first video is of the car itself and with the engine running. The second is footage of the car making a 10 second pass at the track.

This car is currently using a Speed Pro Fuel Management System to control the car's fuel injection system. It is somewhat complex and requires the use of a laptop to program. For those who are not so computer literate, the system can be replaced with a modified stock computer and chip for those injectors. With the current system, no Mass Airflow System is necessary. If you wish to have it converted, a 3 inch LS1 MAF will be utilized with a translator. We have this system on another car and it has proven to be very streetable and powerful. Wheels and slicks are also be part of the package. No nitrous bottle is included in the package and the up-pipe is ready for a new nozzle which can be purchased through your local speed shop or places such as Summit Racing. The system is ready to be used, but we opted to take the nozzle off the up-pipe as was only used at the track. We prefer a less cluttered appearance under the hood.

Buyer will be responsible for the coordination and costs of shipping the vehicle. Seller is not responsible for any damage resulting to the vehicle after transporter has picked-up the vehicle. The car is being sold AS IS with no warranty. However, as you will see from the pictures, it is a beautiful example of Buick's last muscle car.

Any questions can be directed to Jay or Carlos Villalon via Ebay or gomezvillalon@onebox.com . Thanks.

The actual numbers for that pass were 10.801 @ 126.573 mph
with a 1.47. This was done with a 1/2 tank of VP C116 and a 100 shot of nitrous all the way down the quarter mile.

We had always had success with N2O on our other car (LS1 running 10.10 at 133) so we decided to give it a shot with the Buick knowing that the FAST system would compensate for any lean condition we might experience. It worked great. Spark plugs were clean as a whistle.

Our biggest tuning issue was trying to get the car to spool at the line. The car always seemed to bog at the line because it was too rich. Tyring to tune for a good spool never got us what we wanted because it was either good launch bad pass or vice versa. We decided to put a good tune and use a small shot of N20(wet) whch gave us full boost of 24 pounds immediately. The first time we tried N20, we had it shut off after the first 100 ft. This gave us a time of 10.91 (don't remember the trap). The second pass with N20 all the way yielded the time above. We knew we could run 28 or 30 lbs of boost and get there, but we didin't like changing head gaskets or taking that risk. Using N2O was a better option because of the fuel management system and our experience with it in the past.

This pass was almost 2 years ago (late 2001). These cars were basically stored and not used for almost two years because some family problems. Probably too much info, but you wanted the details and there they are.

You can see some more details at cvillalon.tripod.com The website hasn't been updated in years, but you can get an idea of the racing we were doing back then.
