Broke valve spring question..

I`m hearing lots of ticking under the valve cover on the driverside, my scanmaster picks up kr when racing the engine, 2 sometime as high a 5 or 6 kr, also under full throttle with 14psi the engine sputters on top end. Also, when pulling out of my driveway the car makes alot of noise, i thought it was coming from my a/c so i removed my belt then pulled out of my driveway again, same valve train noise.. my question is if the valve spring is broken will this hurt my cam? or wipe out any lobes? is it safe just to replace the springs or inspect the cam before installing new valves springs?

Pull the the valve cover off,easy job. If the valve spring is broken the push rod may come loose. Tension that keeps the keepers in place is less than it should be. You could end up with lots of problems. Don't let a little job turn into a big one.
