    Cadillac pills

Thanks for the compliments. Here are a few pics: I have since removed the running boards, added a set of EZ Inches, and installed 33" tires on M/T Classic II wheels. I need to take some new pics. As far as the Cadillac pills, they worked... mostly. The heater core doesn't leak...

    Cadillac pills

Yup, 1987 Chevy truck. I've never done it, but I hear it sucks to replace the heater core on these, so I'm gonna give the pills a try.

    Cadillac pills

Why should the water be hot? Should my coolant be warm (but obviously not HOT) when I add it? The leak isn't very bad, so I figure it's worth a few bucks to try the pills before I go to all the trouble of replacing the heater core.

    Cadillac pills

Alright, one more question. This is actually for the leaky heater core in my truck, which has an all-iron SBC (if that matters)... should I crush up the pills and put it all in at once, or is it better to do 3 pills and then 3 pills? Hmm, feeling like Colombo now - "Just one more question:"...

Do these work better in plain water or 50/50 mix, or doesn't it really matter?

    Pro 15 (undercoating)???

It's not cheap, but it's worth it. You can get it direct from www.por15.com. It should stick to any metal or rust you may have, and you can get it in brush-on or spray-on form. It's neat stuff because it doesn't dry, it chemically reacts. It's in an anhydrous form in the can, and it actually...

    Pro 15 (undercoating)???

Nothing against Intercooler, but I hate undercoating. Paint is so much easier to remove once rust gets underneath it, and you can often see how far the rust has advanced. Undercoating hides it too long. Besides, if you don't drive it in the snow/salt, you really don't need anything like...

Tool for cutting stainless braid line clean

How about one of those pliers-type general purpose cutters with a big razor blade in it? They're supposed to cut just about anything. Seems like you could use one to cut the lines already on the car with that, and then use a cutoff wheel in the future on lines before they're in the car.

    Head gaskets... (again)

On Cometic's website, it seems to indicate that you can get almost any thickness you want... even .020"! But is that still multi layer steel?

    Happy New Year!

Everyone on this board has treated me so nicely even though I don't have a turbo Buick. I just wanted to wish everyone a happy New Year, and may 2003 treat us all well! :)

    87 Hot Air

FWIW, I seem to remember Yenko doing a hotair turbo Z28 around 1979 or so. He used a water/alky injection system that ran off the windshield washer fluid reservoir. Well, yes mostly. When you take a bottle of liquid at room temperature and put some of it in your hand, the liquid absorbs heat...

    87 Hot Air

I think the idea is that he sprays a little regular temp fuel into the manifold at all times, which contacts the manifold surface and absorbs heat from it. That's what causes the vaporization (or evaporation--they're the same thing). It's sorta like having a bag of ice on your plenum all the...

    87 Hot Air

(OK, but if it does contain asbestos, and even if asbestos does cause lung cancer, you only have to worry about it when lots of little strands of it are floating around in the air. Not when it's woven into a string which is woven into a fabric. :) You have to breathe a whole lot of the stuff...

    87 Hot Air

So then, for your application, would it make sense to wrap the tubing with some kind of insulating fabric? Or would the pipes get hotter than the ambient underhood temp under prolonged boost conditions? Might be an interesting experiment. :)

    87 Hot Air

But didn't the MAT behave the same with the stock setup? And even though a FM wouldn't act as an interheater, wouldn't it still cause an inlet tract pressure drop? (Keep in mind I'm a turbo newbie.)

    Which chip?

No. I don't have a turbo Buick yet. :( I'm just bored and curious. :p

    Which chip?

So what chip are you running, and is it for street or race or both? (Moderators: please feel free to add options to the poll.)
