straight water vs Methanol or a Methanol mixture

Re: This thread is dead Most grass roots R&D efforts are patched together from people sharing experiences and sparking new ideas to try like is happening in this thread. If someone wanted to pay a research company big $$$$ they would generate all the data you need to wring every last hp...

straight water vs Methanol or a Methanol mixture

I'm turning the spray on at 4-5 psi but keep in mind that I see full boost instantly from 2,000 rpm to redline. The set-on point is more useful with a centrifugal blower. With a 1M or 2M nozzle I doubt you'll get any noticable bogging. If you're running 2M and 7M nozzles I bet you're very...

straight water vs Methanol or a Methanol mixture

sstock, I've lurked around here for 2-1/2 years and as you can see I rarely make posts. I've had an SMC kit on my car for two years now and it's taken allot of tweeking to figure it out. At first I took a page out of the Turbo Buick book and ran the 15M nozzle and straight denatured...

straight water vs Methanol or a Methanol mixture

I've run all sorts of mixtures on my car with varying results. Three things that are extremely important when using 100% water is nozzle size, pump pressure and nozzle placement. A 1M nozzle @ 80-100 psi pressure will deliver plenty of water, in a very fine mist, to reduce intake temperatures...

SMC kit on the way. What percentage of denatured for my blown Mustang application???

What I have learned regarding blown Mustangs is that it is best to run straight water unless you need the extra fuel from the alky. Alky will greatly effect the A/F of your car and if it is too low it will lower hp. If the fuel system is adequate then IMO you are better off using water only...

Those of you without SMC- Interested in a pump speed control?

wiplash, If you're making 7# at 3,000 rpm then you could probrably use some spray at that point. Keep us posted on how it works. Keith, I reaslly don't know what size will work best on a KB because my car is still in the shop. I know Ed Clark uses a 1 gph nozzle that works well on his...

Those of you without SMC- Interested in a pump speed control?

wiplash, On a centrifugal blown car I don't think you have to get that exotic. You only see full boost above 5,000 rpm and you "window of operation" is narrow compared to turbo and KB blown cars. You might want to try it with simple setup first then get more exotic if needed.

Those of you without SMC- Interested in a pump speed control?

Keith, that sounds like an interesting way to solve the problem. I guess I would need to know how durable the valves are and does pulsing hurt the atomization of the water/alcohol. Also, I would if the rapid on/off of the valve would eventually hurt the pump. Looks like there might be a micro...

What is a good source for solenoids?

Try SMC. They will sell individual components like selonoids. http://www.geocities.com/rad87gn/tech/SteveCkit.html

Those of you without SMC- Interested in a pump speed control?

I'm waiting on some parts from SMC to do a dual nozzle system on my car. One nozzle before the blower and one after. You might want to consider getting two solenoids, one for each nozzle, that can be opened when the pump starts. The second nozzle can have an rpm switch in-line to complete the...

Those of you without SMC- Interested in a pump speed control?

Yellow95, Are you building a system that will increase pump speed with rpm? If so, how are you accomplishing it? I have been running an SMC kit on my car for about a year and have found that on Kenne Bell blown cars the full boost at 2,000 rpm to redline causes bogging problems in the lower...

Isn't this a BUICK board and NOT Rustang help board?

Yellow95, as a fellow Crudstang owner I think I should give you a little advice. I have been coming to this forum (alky) for more than a year and until now I can't remember there being any fighting like I am seeing in this thread. From what I have observed a couple of the newbie Mustang guys...

Isn't this a BUICK board and NOT Rustang help board?

I want to thank you guys for the support you have given to us Rustang newbies. I have been lurking around here for over a year and although I haven't posted much I've learned allot about alcohol injection. Here is my signature used at "The Corral" Mustang website: '89 LX 5.0L, T-56; MAC...
