For a performance motor ...always with a torque plate.... I have seen pics of the differences of having a plate installed and not installed. The head bolts and having the heads torqued down actually change the shape of the bore.

I saw a large difference in between running methanol/water , and running straight ethanol in air inlet temps. The methanol really dropped the intercooler temps dramatically. So much that the intake maifold was cold to the touch after a run. But the more I think about it now...the methanol...

We had the opposite problem...the gap was too loose and we tightened it up and it got lots better.... Stopped popping and missing. We went to 50/50 mix , tightened the gaps and upped the boost.... worked to get us into the 11's on pump gas at 2700 feet.
