I was in the same boat 2 years ago...wanted basically stock with a bit more "GO" and more reliable. I bought a bone-stock GN with 42k. I'm not a turbo guy either but the reading through this site (plus asking a few questions) resulted in the combo of TA 49 turbo with the stock Garrett exhaust...

Looking for a stock set of valve covers with or without EOM oil tube and breather. I plan to powdercoat, but should still be in good shape. I'm not on here everyday, so I may be a couple of days responding. Thanks !

I should be able to find this info, but cannot. Sometime ago I saw that there was someone on Ebay that sold powdercoated stock Gn valve covers. Does anyone have this info. I tried searching on Ebay, but came up empty.
