I know it's not the original engine.....it's not in a Buick body. But because of the popularity of this motor I'd like to make sure it's not from a stolen car.

With your help I have found the casting numbers (25526109), and the VIN on the motor....... However, with only 9 digits (4HP456080) where do I go from here? This looks like a cool car, but I'm not interested if the engine is out of a stolen car. How can I check? Any thoughts? Tom

Thanks..... This casting number matches, so now I at least know it is a real turbo Buick 86/87. But isn't the VIN stamped on the engine too? I'd like to see if it's from a Grand National and if it has been stolen.

Can anyone tell me where to look for the VIN on a buick V6 engine? It is supposed to be a GN motor not in the original body. I know these engines are very sought after so I'd like to check the numbers before I buy to see if it could be a GN and make sure it's not stolen. Any help is...
