Ah, I got it. Driveshaft loop I was installing was hitting the front yoke. loosened it up and it slid right in.

I've taken it out twice since this post, and it has shifted perfectly. Mark, my converter sound similar to yours (when its working properly). Will the mechanic be able to find a pump pressure problem if it is currently working fine?

Before, at very light throttle the car would cruise below 3K rpm. And it should be able to shift below redline. Something isnt right, the car is barely driveable.

for my mechanical gauges, I screwed in the temp sensor to the outlet in the lower intake just behind the turbo, and for the oil I unplugged the dummy light and used that outlet down where the turbo's line plugs into the block. Sorry I don't know all the technical names for these places.
