The OE PVC system has its problems too.
Catch cans seem to be a common fix too and at lest 10 different was to plumb it.
If you have the PCV valve, I would be installing a RJC valve

my street tire is 275-60 /15 again 8 in wheel 4 in backspace ,BUT its a Cooper. The MT 275-60 /15 PRO DR on a 8 in I'm sure will rub, maybe it would fit with rolled fender The 275-60/15 ET Street R DR might fit . ET street SS will fit
I have run 28X 9 MT Pro Bracket Radial too again fits...
many have run 275 drag radial and 28 X 9 slick on a 7 in wheel. But a 8 in wheel is recommended.
A 255 60 15 will give you about a 1 1/4 hight over what you have but you'll give-up 3/4 in witch.
With your combo I would stay 25 3/4 tall, I see no advantage for you with a 28X9/15 slick or...

Post #10 that pink wire is key. Your first and free ,place to start ,sitting in the driveway its time to give all key connection the wiggle test.
ECU plug ,fusible link ,Pink wire behind the glove box the purple wire over buy the break booster.
Its ugly and not really ideal but a fuel...
