I always thought that it was high compression that caused the detonation due to the fact that lower octanes are more susceptible to self combustion at high cylinder pressures?

That's interesting about the Shell gas... wonder what caused it to have more power? Different 'gas' or just that lower octane's produce more power? I have seen that Shell's V-Power has a lot of additives, like techroline I would guess, you think these additives are the same? Thanks
