    Help with Buick 231 engine...

How far off is it? Can the heads I have be ported to match? Do you know what casting numbers the 77-78 heads have or the newer ones? I know the guy had my heads redone...not sure if he might have got a newer set. I'm going to get the casting numbers tonight...but i'm pretty sure it starts...

    Help with Buick 231 engine...

I've got my first buick 231 V6. Have some Q's. The block casting numbers I've found and looked up and supposedly it's a 77-78 block. The head numbers didn't match the numbers I found on the net. I'm wanting an edelbrock intake but it says it'll only fit 79 and up motors. Anyone know what...

Finally got the 383ci w/T72 to track, couldn't get more than 13 lbs boost!

Update...called ITS today. The guy said the second small spring can go inside the cap with the big spring to give 20 lbs. Seems awfully weird because there's no groove for the spring to sit in. Seems like it could "fall over" pretty easily. I'll try the 15 lber and see if I can get any more...

Finally got the 383ci w/T72 to track, couldn't get more than 13 lbs boost!

Hey Scott..that's good to hear. How is the business doing? I think the fab work is pretty much done. I put my new spring in....actually ITS sent me TWO springs. One was big and the other much smaller in diameter. I'm not sure what the smaller one is for. I'm going to call them tomorrow and...

Finally got the 383ci w/T72 to track, couldn't get more than 13 lbs boost!

Thanks guys....I talked to ITS today (because I have their Progate). They said you can go more than doube but it depends on exhaust backpressure. I ordered their 15 lb spring. We'll soon see!

Finally got the 383ci w/T72 to track, couldn't get more than 13 lbs boost!

I was talking to Guido last night on the phone and he mentioned that he has heard that you can only effectively double your wastegate spring pressure with a boost controller. Just to let you guys know, with my blitz Dual SBC controller set to 0 (which is suppose to be only the spring...

Finally got the 383ci w/T72 to track, couldn't get more than 13 lbs boost!

I haven't tried it yet. I contemplated it on my last pass but decided that wasn't what it was when i tried to compress it with all my strength and thought plenty of air should still flow when compressed. I'll try it but I really don't think that's it. I checked for exhaust leaks today...found...

Finally got the 383ci w/T72 to track, couldn't get more than 13 lbs boost!

Hey guys, I finally got the car to the track. Got it down to 1.51 short, 10.42 @132 1/4 on 13 lbs, 26 timing, 11.4 AF ratio. However, on my blitz dual solenoid boost controller, I went up on the ratio (which should provide more boost) and I couldn't get it to go over 13 lbs! I would think my...

Hey fellas...my car's about done! I can't log onto chat....

Not sure what's up, but i can't get onto the chat. IRC or java. Anyways, I finally found someone to build headers for me. I got out of college, became a financial planner and have been very busy. I didn't have time to redo the exhaust. But here's a few pics of the progress! Hows everyone...

    Idle problem

AE fuel would be my guess as well. If your moving the throttle at a high rate of speed during this "tap", decrease the values on the far right of this table. If your moving the throttle slower on this "tap" adjust the numbers down farther to the left. Try it and see if this helps.

    start...die...start...idle great

THat's the way I take it as well, provided one little detail. I dont' think it "instantly uses after start enrichment after 400 rpm (or whatever). After that 400 rpm (or whatever) is reached, then it waits for the # of revolutions specified in the aft start revs vs. CTS, and THEN it applies...

    start...die...start...idle great

I think it's instant. This is my theory...when you start the engine that first time, it needs alot of fuel to keep it running. In the c-com manual, it says it needs a little time to "burn off" the cranking fuel and this time between the start and when it starts adding aft start fuel. I think...

    start...die...start...idle great

I kinda had this same problem. Not sure if this will help but try this...go into the aft start enrichment vs number of engine revs (or something to that effect) and in the cold temps, lower the numbers until it starts the first time. I had to take mine WAY down. It seemed to help mine. It...
