    10 vane or not

I've broken 2 in the past 4 years so the last one I replaced was with a 10 vane kit just to get the new slide but I still went with the 7 vane setup. I too am a Dave supporter as it was Dave that supplied me all my parts and help.

Group effort to illustrate 200-4r weak points

Pump Slide. Break at the pivot point. I'm on my 3rd one in under 6500 miles. Not a HP thing but RPM/Pressure? 300psi at 6500-6800rpm. This last time I dropped 1st & 2nd pressure from 300 down to 275 psi with a PR spring so fingers crossed.

Rebuilt transmission not shifting quite right

I agree with Rich. It isn't going to sort itself. I've forgotten lots since I built my trans but the 2-3 shift is all about timing. Not only do you need to apply the directs but you need to push the servo back to release the band. The band letting go too soon causes the flare. IIRC. Dual...

Pump destroyed and converter hub cracked....thinking slide failure

Me? The dual setup that was in the built up pump that Dave Husek built for me back 5-6 years.

Pump destroyed and converter hub cracked....thinking slide failure

FWIW I've just finished putting my trans together last night, once again. Recently I was giving it a wee blast and had just changed into 4th when I hit a bump at the bottom of a dip. I was watching the trans pressure and it dropped to 50psi so I got off it real quick and limped it home. This...

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

Sounds like a plan to me Dave. I'll keep an eye on it and just go with it as is. Thanks

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

Sender is in the sump. When it's not in LU is can get warm but I don't recall what temp it gets to on the track. I don't remember ever seeing it go over 170 and that was a hot day climbing a long steep hill in 2nd & 3rd, so it can warm up quickly. My concern was with it running so cool, under...

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

That's the reason why I posted this. Mine sits at or below 120, 90% of the time and rarely goes over 140. I've never seen it over 160. But since it works fine I guess I'll leave it be unless there is a negative to it running this cold.

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

So due to the fact I don't have any issues with it, running between 120, or lower, and 140, I should be OK to leave it be and just enjoy it?

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

I have found a bypass valve that opens at 160 degrees.... https://www.holley.com/products/plumbing_an_fittings_and_hose/cooling_systems/oil_thermostat/parts/501ERL Would this be a good option to get the temp up or would running the oil through the radiator after the cooler be enough? My engine...

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

Hi Dave. No issues here from either. The earthquake was about 350 miles away so I never felt it. I hope all is good with you? I have run my trans for a couple of years now and have clocked up about 6000 miles without too many issues and none caused by heat. As you said in your reply there...

What's the ideal temp range for trans oil?

What is the ideal range and what is considered too cold and what's too hot? Obviously too hot isn't great but what issues are there if it's too cold?

    Vortec? V6 Intake Manifold

I'm looking for an intake for a 1996 Vortec? V6. This one is in a boat so it's a Merc with a cast iron 2 barrel intake on it that has been cracked. I can only guess that this engine is a mercruiser 4.3L. I know nothing about these at all but it has 4 vertical bolts down either side. Will...
