The tcc has a little plastic ball in the end of it, this ball could be stuck from trash or age. What gear do you have in the rear and how tall are the tires?
Did you change the carb? Probably has to do with the TV cable, a geometry problem. Check both of the speed-o gears, one or both maybe striped.

Use TCI part number 242400 This is a saturday night special converter, stall will be around 1800-2000 behind a stock application. About 200-400 above a stock converter.

When you unpluged the electronics and shifted in od did it quit? If not you may want to check the servo area. If it did, I'll have to agree with Kevin.

Unplug the electrical connection from the transmission, drive the car and see if it still does it. If this fixes the problem there is something wrong with the wiring.
Use TCI's part number 376600 should fix the problem.
B&m use to paint there converters blue should have a part number on it. contact them with that number. Is the converter still in the car? If it is you can flash the converter to what the stall is.
There is a pressure port just above the shift linkage, install a pressure gauge shift into each gear and note the pressure. Have some one pull the TV cable all the way out with the engine at idle and check pressure you should see an increase and note those pressures. It sounds like there is a...
